New austin am 1120 is "Exitos 11-20"

Brings back the Exitos name that used to ride high in Austin ratings on 98.9.
Now it's a nostalgic wall-to-wall Spanish language ballads format.

Someone who knows the situation with 1120 says they are still in the testing phase and will continue that way for a while.

1120 in Manor first came on a few days ago but is not going to go full time until everything is perfect technically since it is a complicated directional pattern.

1120 will probably be a 24/7 Spanish music station since the owner owns several Spanish music stations around the country.

I wonder if they will have bumper stickers, because I want to give one to the ice cream man that sells right outside from where I work, I will be a nice addition to his Exitos 98.9 bumper sticker.
He had that on his cart since the big talker days.

I still wish Austin's Greatest Hits would be resurrected even if its on AM.

Is this a legal station? I don't see it on Radio-Locator, and FCC is not longer giving licences to daytimers---I'd think KMOX to be an issue.

It's legit, calls are KTXW. 155 watts at night for Class B, apparently the night array is more efficient than normal.

Actually it IS on radio-locator but the info there is wrong. It's going to be 5600 watts day (not 250 watts like radio-locator says) and 155 watts at night and it's been fully approved by the FCC.

I used the Advanced Search page, but I musta entered the wrong thing. What used to be a large swath of night signal by KMOX continues to dwindle.

Coral Springs FL, a 45 minute drive from me, has a CP for WFNX. What they would ever wanna do here on AM that hasn't been tried, is anybody's guess.

Been a long road travelled to get an 1120 in Austin on the air. There was a construction permit in the early 80's with the KTCO call sign, but never built. The KTXW CP has been around for a number of years. Have my doubts a Spanish language format will work, given FM options in the market.

Back in the 60's and 70's KMOX used to boom into Austin at night. Listened to a lot of St. Louis Blues games with the legendary Dan Kelly doing play-by-play.

Are they still on the air? tuning around AM sometimes I never hear them on.
