New Austin rimshot on 96.3

It looks like KGID in Giddings TX is applying to raise height by 1 meter and drop power a little before the CP expires early next year. From what I remember from previous discussions on this board the station could serve part of Austin.
This will probably displace Entercom's translator in Austin which actually has a CP to move to 95.9. The applications for both stations are below.

http://fccdata.org/?facid=&call=KGID&ccode=1&city=&state=&country=US&arn=&party=&party_type=LICEN

If KGID's coverage would encroach on the R&B 250 watt in Austin, then KGID would win with the R&B translator going away. A likely scenario would be for the 250 watt translator to move to another frequency or move it's location to eliminate interference. In the eyes of the FCC, a translator is secondary to a full power station. With the translator already applying for 95.9, it seems KGID is no surprise to them and they have acted by asking to move to 95.9.

I Hope The Giddings Station Wins 95.1 Is Free From Its Translator Now So I Can Hear Candy 95.1 KNDE And YO 95.1 KMYO Yeah!

Darn Now I Cant Hear Candy 95.1 AnyMore Someone Need To Shut Some Of These Translators Off So We Can Get Our Stations Back Now We Have A 103.9 Signal Ruining KBEY Burnet And 106.5 Austin Squeezing Out KAJZ Llano Im Thinking The FCC Has Way To Much Power I Already Can No Longer Listen To 97.5 KWTX Waco Because Clear Channel Want To People To Just Hear Kiss 96.7 So They Blocked It With A Translator That Leaves No Variety On FM The More Translators The More Interference The FCC Is Causing!!

Let me try to explain this. Imagine a neighborhood where housing had begun to be built. When some houses were built, there were empty lots adjacent to the lots these homes were built on. As the neighborhood grew, houses began to be built on the vacant lots. They were not built on the lots of the first homes, but perhaps next to them on lots where there was no home. Over time, the neighborhood filled up with a home on almost every lot.

In the post Robert Mezzetti seems to be describing is stations that he was never supposed to receive, as they were too distant, but as more homes, or stations in this case, were constructed, he is upset about not receiving these distant stations. The spacing requirements the FCC set up haven't changed. When I was in Dallas growing up, I could get many distant stations I could never receive today. There's nothing illegal nor sinister about this. Simply put, stations are going up in areas the original station was never supposed to put a signal, on the empty adjacent lots, if you will.

Yes, the FCC has power. They're the god of broadcast media. They're not just a government entity but like a Homeowners Association toss in too. With the FCC an infraction draws a fine, not a warning letter to say you have a problem that must be fixed. I suppose the IRS might be a nice comparison except you have to earn the right by being qualified to get a license that you pay for but the FCC still owns.

Robert, if you're interested, you should learn more about how all this operates. It seems clear from your post you think it is some ploy to block people from listening to stations which is about as far from the truth as you can get.

I have noticed 96.3 is getting to harder to tune in Georgetown, is antenna change the reason for it? I used to be able to listen to it as far as Florence on 195 and far south as Lockhart.

Its Just As Well When You Get That Far North You Should Start Getting 96.3 KSCS Dallas Until This New Signal Out Of Giddings Makes Itself Known!
