New Bedford is about to get some K-Lovin'

This was posted weeks ago. Not to worry about UMass' station. WSMU will be moving to 89.3 as WUMD, with a more powerful signal.
 
It's a dirty, sneaky, smelly deal too!

Umass applied to change frequency and improve facilities. Under NORMAL FCC rules, they would have been forced to give up their old frequency. Under the "BUY OFF" FCC rules effectively in force, they got to SELL their old frequency to a god squad outfit!

By all rights, their old frequency should have become available for application by anyone.

It sucks how political the FCC has become...

Chris Dipaola runs K-LOVE on 88.1. in Westerly. Not a favorite of mine but the network is A-1 when it comes to imaging.

Out of curiousity, what will happen to "WICE-FM", that very popular Big Band "extra-curricular" FM station? No doubt, it will automatically be "bumped".
