You're getting some measure of free pub: WQJJ's woes made the "Taylor on Radio-Info" newsletter.
That's interesting... But, I'd like to know where everyone gets the idea that a move that will result in an obvious improvement (and the addition of two more solid local stations to the community) could be considered as "woes". Some would call that GREAT.
I know that a lot of this is coming as a surprise to the folks reading this but, to those involved with the stations, these events have been very carefully thought out for more than several years.
Ufortunately, not everyone can be told in advance as that can lead to all kinds of "speculative filings" and other nonsense with no purpose other than to block the granting of applications. For instance, if I were to reveal a list of current clients (which I will NOT do), there are actually people who would intentionally plan to file against these people in the hopes of being "paid off" in exchange for the dismissal of the application (for a station no one ever intended to construct, anyway).
It's a sad thing to say but, this is the "way of business" these days. Because of this, a person cannot ever remain silent enough when planned applications, pending applications and/or other FCC business is concerned.
Fortunately, we've been blessed with some of the absolute best allocations study software and have spent the past several years doing not much more than looking for locations in which new radio stations will fit. I can also safely say that I have personally prepared the applications of some of the nations most successful LPFM stations that others have said "couldn't be done". But, as an example, if I were to release information indicating that a station (on a particular frequency) would fit here (in a particular location) and could operate at a particular height and power, that would be a BIG mistake as that applicant would find that they had many competing applications filed during the next filing window. As a result, we have to remain VERY tight-lipped about everything. Announcements cannot be made in advance. Full power applications are the same as LPFM applications in this respect.
The single biggest problem in this business is that SOMEONE ELSE ALWAYS WANTS WHAT YOU HAVE.
