New Billboard EDM Chart

This is good news. At least it's better than nothing plus it will give us Dance fans a chart that tracks real Dance tracks 24/7/365.

It's a step in the right direction. The fact that remixed pop,r&b, or other genres won't be allowed on this chart is sweet to my ears. ;)

Just took a look at the chart. I'm happy! :)

Then again, there's the bigger picture going on that Billboard and mainstream sources are starting to recognize dance/EDM after all these years....meaning GETTING IT RIGHT! :)

I'll even go one bolder that dance/EDM formats will pop up a lot in 2013. The numbers on Boston's Evolution 101.7 have to come through but if it's positive, I could see CC branching it out to other cities, even NEW YORK! Though for New York, you couldn't TOTALLY be EDM because of the variety of dance music fans in terms of their preferential genres.

Things are looking very promising :).

I agree with you. Only time will tell if this move made by Billboard (with this chart) and by Clear Channel (with WEDX) will translate into more acceptance for the Dance genre in general.

I might have ESP cause when I posted this I instantly thought that DJ Perry will zone in on the fact that Will.i.Am FT Britney was the 3 1 song lol. Either I have ESP or DJ Perry is too predictable. Keep calm people.Rome wasn't built in a day.

And.....if you really want to debate this. The Will.I.AM song with Britney is not a remix,it's a dance product. Would I have prefer SHM on top or any other true dance artist on top?Of course but we are moving in the right direction.

I don't know about you guys, but Will.i.Am / Britney, Psy (gross), NeYo, and Luda / Guetta don't really do it for me. Do we really want Dance branded with such names? Seems like this chart cheapens the Genre.

It's not about you, Morpheux, me or other dance fans in here.

That's not to say that I don't agree with you. But the reality is that you have more people that like dance that think of Will.I.Am, NeYo, Rihanna as "dance". Quite honestly, WE NEED THEM IN THIS because you have to spoon feed them that in order to bring OUR brand into the fold so that they can get accustomed to it. Current and recurrents (up to 10 years ago).

We've had dance stations that really catered to the core fans in the past. And while some lasted for a while, others didn't last that long at all. We need something to LAST. If I was programming a station then yeah, I'd have Rihanna, Will.I.Am, etc. Only difference is that I wouldn't have them on rotation TO DEATH as CHR does because this would be about dance/EDM. But be sure our product (Jes, Nadia Ali, Kim Sozzi, Jonathan Mendelsohn, Zedd, Martin Solveig, would be in there) along with our labels (Ultra, Nervous, Strictly Rhythm, Anjunabeats, etc.) would be a big part.

This is where "give and take" comes in and if dance can grow further then we have to consider the potential fan base that can come through along side all of us who have been "believers" :)
