New book

I can.. if you want to make WXMA work bring someone from your demo in to run it.. it sounds like "cool mommy's and daddy's" trying to play college kids.. George Lindsay is a great guy, but, Modern or HOT A/C.. umm no... He doesn't have his old MIX 102 back, he was great at soft a/c during the "love" thing they did but not this.

The new afternoon girl they hired is just horrible, and the music mix is all over the map, not tight at all... the new sweepers suck... format change coming soon... Radio One would be smart to just bring in someone new in hopes of saving the station.. Louisville needs a good HOT A/C but, if Radio One can't bring in new peeps scrap it and do something else. Let's bring the new MOViN format to Louisville!

I would rather see radio one do away with wlrs!!!Muscially wlrs does nothing interesting!!! The max does play an occasional wow like the acoustic version of take me way by lifehouse or the acoustic hanging by a moment by lifehouse. At least they play snow patrols chasing cars just an awesome song!!!

WXMA isn't going anywhere. The new book doesn't come out until the end of October - you are going off a monthly trend - not the same thing! I think you would be surprised by the revenue generated by that station. It ain't going anywhere.

As for wlrs, don't expect that one to change anytime soon either. It really is the only station playing "new rock" in the market. If you have access to Mediabase you should probably take a look. I think you would be surprised by the music wlrs does play. WTFX has started playing ALOT of classic rock lately. Very strange. Add to that, the morning show has been on hiatus during the Fall ratings period. Doesn't look too good for them.

Another stations to watch - Kiss FM: I wouldn't be surprised to see it go Hip Hop or mainstream Urban. B96 has no competition. I expect to see someone challenge them soon.

Eat2TheBeat, you are crazy if you really think that a station would flip just to compete with B96. DJX had no competiton until KISS came along, and KISS is competing quite well. B96 is to hip hop as AMZ is to country.

Competition goes where the $$ is and, unchallenged, B96 is cleaning up. Ratings wise, B96 is killing DJX. Why go after a share of a smaller prize?

Money, that's why! Urban tends to be a tough sell in a lot of markets, especially with some national advertisers imposing no urban dictates on their ad agencies. Nationally, urbans bill less than their ratings share would indicate. An AC with half of WVEZ's ratings would likely bill far better than an urban with half of B-96's.
