another poster on another board posted that Mike Kinney (Market Manager for CC Cinci) was heading to Cleveland.

Can anyone confirm this?

That's essentially a lateral move, marketwise. Cleveland is #25 and Cinci #26. CC Cleveland MAY be above in revenue, but if it is it's not by much.
______________

It was mentioned on WLW, but haven't seen an article on All Access or anything like that.
______________

If we're being picky, Cincinnati was overtaken by Sacramento a year ago, and just got bumped again by Riverside-San Bernardino. So it's now #28.

R&R's site lists it at #27

It doesn't really matter. 2-3 slots still makes it a lateral move. Must be other incentives.
______________

Check Arbitron's site - it will be #28 as of the Winter Book.

Actually Cleveland Clear Channel billed about $59.5 million in 2004 and Cincy billed about $71 million. Although CIncy is smaller, the market outbills Cleveland by about $10 million. In addition, WLW way outperforms WTAM in revenue. More then 2 to 1.

There is no comparison between WLW and WTAM.

WLW has the #1 morning show (WTAM does not) is more consistantly highly rated in other time periods (unlike WTAM), has strength on the weekends outside of play-by-play (WTAM does not) and is a ratings player in something like 6 different books due to their extremely good groundwave (daytime) signal (WTAM's
groundwave is mediocre at best for a 50k non-directional).

Plus WLW virtually has an all locally-based lineup. (I count "The Truckin' Bozo" and his successors, who originate from WLW's studios, as "local" in this respect.)

WTAM? Mornings, you've got a Cincy transplant (Wills) who ISN'T a talk host Just interviews, traffic and weather, and commercials.

Middays are the low-rated (!) Springer and Rush. The latter is understandable.

Afternoons are hosted by an oafish former sports talk show caller, who just lost his female co-host, a former elementary school teacher, to a budget cut. (Not that it was a bad thing...)

Evenings are hosted by Kevin Keane, a shill for all the teams that WTAM carries PBP for.

From 10PM on, it's George Norry. Yippie.

WTAM cannot even compare to WJR, or WTVN, for that manner.

WTVN is not as good without Steve Boom-Boom Cannon.

Cannon getting cut was disapointing, though the pattern doesn't go my direction at night (enjoyed it during their antenna work last year).

Indeed.

What, should every talk host start and stay in the market he's from?

Actually, your friend Keane talks til midnight.

> WTAM cannot even compare to WJR, or WTVN, for that manner.

WTVN, which does run Noory at 10pm, was once a great station, but has become as bad as the rest. WJR... a tired midmorning host, failed national afternoon host who practically pitches the show to stations himself during his lunch break, a delayed Sean Hannity, way-delayed Dr. Laura, and a dying trucking show.

On game nights. Sometimes, after a Tribe game he'll go to 1am.

On non-game nights, Keane's 7p-10p, maybe 11pm if you're lucky.

It's something I never understood--why C2C at 10pm? The wackos are still seancing then...
