New Bryan-College Station Urban!?!

Heard PM Driver Dex finally acknowledging on air today what we've suspected for quite a while that 103.9 XCS is being blown up soon. They sound like the wheels are off today which lends credence to the theory. Urban is what everyone is saying which make's a lot of sense since KVJM pulled solid ratings for years and they brought some ex's in the past few months. Candy has even sounded quite a bit more hip-hop instensive recently perhaps sensing the move. Urban is a tough sale in Aggieland but probably a decent ratings grab. The BOXX from Houston has even pulled decent numbers up there for years. I personally liked XCS but Alternative seems to be going the way of the condor these days. RIP! :'(

yep - now Kira's on putting on a hell of a show that sounds like a swan song as well. It's a shame they don't let more alternative's really be alt. I've heard the urban thing too. From my perspective it make plenty of sense with Candy out there. I"ll miss XCS but reality is a bitch and the kids just dont listen to rock like in my day. I hope we get something like KGSR or the old Planet in houston to fill the void.

Reality is that the Brazoz Valley is HUGE in Country music. What surprises me is how fast two spanish stations appeared out of nowhere. Don't really know how those two are doing, but I suspect one of them is not doing very well (likely KVJM). As for Urban music, I don't really know how the conservative Aggie will take this (especially since they are taking their only rock alternative away :-\).

Looks like those waiting for urban will have to wait a little longer, because 103.9 is now...

(drumroll)

Jack FM.

Heard a Howard Cogan legal ID just now, and they're playing "Afternoon Delight" by Will Ferrell.
