New "Bull" morning host is...

Jason Pullman. I saw Rodney's article. Guy has a voice you hear ALOT on tv; he's a voice over guy.
His website is jasonpullman.com. He's done radio in L.A and he's not your typical Country jock.

Kristen will co-host.

Props to CC for doing something a little different this time.

Another Jason comes to Atlanta Country Morning Radio! This will be a fascinating chess match to watch! Jason Pullman coming to The Bull has been rumored for a few weeks. To My ears, he IS very good on the air. He immediately repositions Cadillac Jack as OLD. (He even makes After Midnight's Blair Garner sound old.) When CJ's contract expires, will Citadel be able to afford to re-up with Him. supposedly, Pullman is staying in L. A., to do the show from there...which will be easier said than done. His hours will be 1AM - 5AM L. A. time, 5 days a week. We'll see how long he can live with that schedule.

Jason is a straight, Jewish, Ryan Seacrest. And, like Ryan: an Atlanta native. He last worked in radio for Clear Channel in L. A., so CC obviously likes Him. I GOT to believe that this is a test market for a national roll-out, just like CC is doing with Seacrest (and I think planned for predecessor, Cledus T. Judd). I don't think Pullman would bother to do this, without a shot at national stardom, fame and money. He makes a great living with voice-overs in L.A., so why does He need to work 1 - 5AM, unless it's for the bigger prize!???

IF (and that's a big 'if') CC advertises him on TV, Billboards, etc., he may actually grow the Country morning share in Atlanta. Think about it. Pullman could form a listener 'coalition,' by taking some from CJ on Kicks; cut a little into the new Cindy & Ray show on Star; and even cut into the Bert Show on Q100.

Also: the wild card here is that Scott Lindy is an EXCELLENT Program Director.

Call Me crazy, but: I still think that there is a chance that WUBL will go AC...sooner or later! It certainly is a fallback position. Lindy successfully did AC before Country. And, Jason and Kristen are probably better suited for AC. And, WSB-FM is definitely under performing!

I've only listened for about 30 minutes, but so far I like what I hear. Nice bit where he called a Waffle house to introduce himself and the girl never heard of The Bull, and I he said that's why they brought me in, I guess.
So how does The Bull lure hard core listeners away from Caddy & Kicks, that's the trick. I think if they can get Kicks listeners to give Jason a try, they'll like what they hear and may just stay.

Well, he's definitely in Atlanta today. Those hours, which actually would be 2-6 I believe, seem impossible. He could do his VO work from anywhere. So I would expect him to move back here. But who knows?

Why does he have to stay in LA to do voice over work? Plus if they go National I can not think of any national morning show originating from the west coast?

Also are you implying that Ryan Seacrest is neither Jewish nor straight?

Two things... in Rodney's article Scott Lindy used one the hackiest PD quotes ever. In talking of Jason he said, "He's not narrowcast."

Pa-leeze! Anyone that has done time in radio has had a PD that used this line. WE ARE BROADCASTERS, NOT NARROWCASTERS. Shut up!

2nd...

The show is trying to throw Caddy under the bus for being old yet Pullman is 35 and Kristen is mid 30's too right?

Jason might have a younger edgier tone but why team him up with Kristen? For the Dunwoody mother angle?
Seems hypocritical to me.

I was pondering the necessity in those points as well...why go there at all?

No, I guess I am stating that Seacrest IS not straight and not Jewish.

Why bring up that Pullman is Jewish? Because in the past, he has made it an issue as it relates to Country Music listeners. He told the Los Angeles Journal, "People in country music are different, a little more anti-Semitic than they are in other formats." How bout that for stereotyping?

Rtibbs....what do you do for a living, cuz your dim witted comments do not indicate you are in this business.
Wish you'd quit your personal attacks on people....They are too numerous and I don't hear your name being sung
on any station.

Just what did RTibbs say that would be considered a "personal attack?"
Regarding "dim witted comments".....I find RTibbs contributions intelligent and insightful. Having insight and intelligence are a sure sign you're not employed in radio........

So what if he is Jewish,Sari on Kicks is too and she does an awsome job. It will be hard to lure the hard core Kicks listeners away, especially with all the Eagle listeners who followed Dallas over to Kicks. The Bul should have kept Slam and made him the morning guy.

Tom thanks for the support. I was bewildered by this post until I read your and others calling out Radiodufus for bringing up religion.

I said nothing in my post that was a personal attack. If my comments are so dimwitted then disprove my theory on national syndicated morning shows originating from the left coast. You find an exception at best.

If I comment on someone's talent that is my opinion as a listener. I think commenting on someone's religion and sexual orientation like Radiodufus did is a personal attack.

I loved what I heard on Friday. Pullman seemed to have a quick wit about him and there seemed to be a nice chemistry w/Kristen. They had (and acknowledged at the end of the show) problems with the traffic reports all morning. Maybe that's why they started on a Friday, to give listeners all weekend to forget about the mistakes.
I think it was smart to keep Kristen, she has a good fan base from her days at Kicks, and dumping her for another unknown would have sent those people right back to Kicks.
I am confused over one thing though. It was clear that Pullman was in Atlanta for the debut of the show, and is even appearing with Kristen tonight at a couple of events. Has he moved back here for good, or will he be going back to L.A., as some people on this board think he will do.

I've spoken just with salespeople there, but they insist he will live in Atlanta. I would think he would because doing a show from 2-6AM every morning would get old really quickly to say the least. I can't imagine CC taking the chance that the show quality would decline rapidly if he tried that. But I don't know for sure.

There is one syndicated morning show that comes from L.A. It's an urban show, Big Boy's Neighborhood. Big Boy does mornings on Power 106 in L.A. He starts his syndicated show every morning at 4AM Pacific time, which of course is 7AM on the East Coast. I'm guessing the last syndicated hour is the first hour of his L.A. show.

It would also be weird because besides Kristen, afternoons is the only local show on the Bull right now. I would think if he was going to be local in Atlanta full time, CC would issue a definitive statement stating and emphasizing that, for the benefit of Atlanta advertisers and listeners.

whitfm: [size=12pt]It's truly sad that you are so insecure, that you need someone's 'support' on this message board. Go for therapy. Then, in the process, you go and 'attack' me!

I did not make a 'personal attack' on anyone. I merely stated a FACT.

In the past, Jason Pullman felt he needed to hide his religion from his audience when he was on country radio in SF, Detroit, St. Louis, and elsewhere, by using the pseudonym, 'Jason Dean.' I can only speculate that he felt that his real last name would somehow give him away as being Jewish. He made the decision to conceal his religion from the listeners because (and I am quoting here), "People in country music are different, a little more anti-Semitic than they are in other formats."

When he was on non country stations like Star in Los Angeles, he felt more comfortable with using his real name.

Now, for whatever the reason, he has decided to be honest to the Bull listeners. Good for him to give the country listeners in Atlanta more credit than to think that they would decide to listen to him or not based on his religion!

The only 'comment' I made about Jason, was to say that I thought that he was very good on the air!

Is that a personal 'attack?' Hardly. That is called a compliment!

Whatever...
The point remains is that all we have is yet another reason to get press that they cant get otherwise. The fact he came from atlanta is meaningless, he has been gone and old news to whoever is listening in the country arena. What he has done elsewhere, what their "national syndicated etc vision" for him is not relevant. He has to connect with Atlanta, and counter the years of a head start that KICKS has in doing so. The second ( third or fourth) in... has a hard time breaking into the loyalty created for the big guy. Especially if the product itself cannot be better than the leader. That hasn't happened yet, with all the BS,baseball and the LAST big thing that was touted the same way...Cledus. It wont happen again, for the same reasons.
