On Friday's Bullpen show on WTSO Madison's ESPN 1070 AM radio - the host (Jim Caston) said that the Bullpen show would be restructured beginning today.

Any word on who the new Bullpen host will be?

From what I've heard on the radio so far...

Caston is still around, he's doing the local sports news breaks and other stuff now.

Today, they had Dan Patrick and Mike & Mike doing a promo for the new Bullpen show starting Monday, October 9 (I believe).

it seems that mark heller is once again hosting the evening 1070 show. i find this very ironic as just last week i sent jim caston an email letting him know how much i enjoy his show and what a welcome change it was from heller's show which got to the point of me refusing to even turn it on. i'm very disapointed to see heller back in this position as he is an arrogant asshole and will soon force me to listen only to my ipod during the hours of 5-7.

I've listened the last two days, here's my thoughts:

* I like Heller - He's seems quite knowledgeable, takes a strong position on issues, and can back it up.

I see why so many people liked him from his previous stint (seems like he's a "you either like him, or you don't" - kind of guy).

* I like the top 6 at 6 - I prefer to listen to hosts who are knowledgeable and can talk about several sports topics in an hour.

This is one area that I think Heller is a big improvement over Caston; I could turn Caston back on after an hour of listening to something else - and he'd still be talking about the same thing - repeating the same argument from before.

I absolutely hate when a sports talk host spends an entire hour or two beating to death one topic (e.g. the Terrell Owens overdose day was completely unlistenable on ESPN radio - there was nothing else being broadcast that day).

* I like the idea of having a counterpart on the show, to balance Heller - but I'm not sold on the Murphy guy - his voice is a little rough to listen to, I haven't heard him bring a whole lot to the table to add to the show so far - but I'll give him a few more days to prove to me that he belongs on the team.
