New Call Letters for Rock & Q

I was wondering if WWWQ's Calls will be moved 99.7 FM, and What About ROCK 100.3? Are we gonna see any new calls for that station as well. My Guess would probably be WRCS, for W atlanta's RoCk Station.

I was wondering when this would occur myself. I am sure they'll want WWWQ on 99.7. Does anyone have access to call letter applications? I used to get a publication that printed this stuff, but that was a decade and a half ago.

It only makes sense to move the WWWQ calls to 99.7. You can't have Q100 without its well-known calls. In my opinion, WWWQ doesn't seem to fit on 100.5. I think that WROF - W Rock One Hundred Point Five might work. Then again, WRCS sounds like an equally good idea.

100000watts.com says "WWWQ calls requested" for 99.7, so it appears the calls are moving there. No word on what's going to 100.5.

If anyone could roll tape and get the legal IDs for the newly flipped Atlanta stations (for use on tophour.com) before and after the change, I'd appreciate it.

O.K., What if WRCS's call signs were taken, Maybe they could use WALR-Which Stands for W AtLanta's Rock.

In 1989-90, it stood for Atlanta's Light Rock at 104.7.

WALR is Atlanta's Kiss 104.1 (Cox)

WRCS is a small 1000 watt AM station in South Carolina.

WROF is available.

Well, I'm guessing WALR's calls are taken by Cox Radio's KISS 104.1-An Urban AC station-which happens to be ATL's 2nd favorite station behind V-103. Hence, The Calls meaning: WAduLt R&B.

When 104.7 boosted its signal to serve Atlanta it was AC MusicRadio 104.7 with the WALR calls for Atlanta Light Rock. When they could not compete well against Peach and B they then changed fromats to Urban AC. Midwestern sold 104.7 to Cox and Cox had to spin it off so Cox kept the Kiss format and placed it on Smooth Jazz 104.1fm's signal. Cox then traded 104.7 to Salem in exchange for a Salem signal in Houston. Whatever WALR stands for now is not the original meaning

WROA belongs to an AM station in the Gulfport-Biloxi area. Cumulus would have to get permission from the owners to use those calls. How about just keeping the WNNX calls?

I am 85% sure I heard WWWQ on 99.7 this morning.. but I am not positive I heard it because I was still half asleep :p

I will be listening for it at the 8am mark...

I hope Clueless (Cumulus) will do something about it. It is (Like COX) an Atlanta-Based Company.

Yes let's hope they act quickly. This is a travesty that a few days into this change they have not changed call letters yet. When will these people get a clue. I have never heard of something as crazy as this? Why would they do this? I suggest everybody call theDickeys today and demand the call letters be changed so Troy can sleep at night act fast. I will see you there at 11:00.

ok i just heard the 9:00am Legal ID and it said "Q100 at 99.7 is WWWQ Atlanta, A Cumulus Station"

As incompetent as we all know Cumulus to be, not having the calls changed on the flip date was probably not their fault. I was working as an intern in a cluster up in Knoxville, TN a few years back when Citadel moved a couple of stations to new frequencies. They appilied for the moves of calls months in advance and they still didn't have approval by the flip date.

I remember so vividly because we couldn't use the new Legal ID packages we had ordered and a couple of us got to record ID's that were used for a couple of weeks.

I wonder what 100.5 is using then?

After TRG, it said ROCK100.5 WNNX College Park Atlanta...

They just swapped for now...

Actually is actually right this time. They're just switching. So... will they ever get new calls for 100.5 or are they going to use the well-associated WNNX?
