New call signs for Channels 33 & 40

Two questions:

1) Why did they change the call signs?

2) Anyone have any idea what WSES and WGWW stand for, or are they just random letter?
 
Aren't Channels 33 and 40 under new owners now? The call signs...sounds just like a random ones they chose, just used to distance them stations from their former WCFT and WJSU calls.
 
I asked James Spann via Twitter if he knew what the significance of the new callsigns was. His reply: "I have no idea."
