New Calls for 96.7 FM

I was listening at 7:50 AM and the official Id sounded like WCTZ-Stamford. They said it very fast. In any event they would only use the call letters once an hour.

It's no wonder these stations so often come up with these unimaginative formats like they do. They also come up with bland unimaginative call letters lately! "CT" from a couple of other stations, and grabbing the "Z" from another. The geniuses must have spent all of several seconds coming up with those calls.

And what would you suggest? What would be exciting and imaginative enough for you to want to listen? It appears that some of you think the entire format and call letters were just decided over cocktails during happy hour one afternoon. It's always so easy from the outside looking in, isn't it?...

"It appears that some of you think the entire format and call letters were just decided over cocktails during happy hour one afternoon."

In this brave new world of McRadio, it really wouldn't surprise me one bit.

Quit defending this piece of crap, would you? The last thing this area needs is another crappy AC station, especially an automated one with no air personalities. Oh, and by the way, nobody seems to be mentioning much about the tons of Long Island AC's that also bomb into this area.

Wouldn't surprise you huh? That is sad.

After three days you've already deemed it "another crappy AC station" Wow, you're a patient f*cker aren't you? I bet you're the kind of guy who can't wait for his toast to pop up in the morning, always checking to see if it's done. Yelling at the toaster " HURRY UP ALREADY!" All I'm saying is, give things a little time. You never know.... or do YOU? I'm sure they'll get jocks at some point. Why the rush to condemn? Look, I don't care either way whether this station succeeds or falls flat on it's face. Can't you just let things play out.

"After three days you've already deemed it "another

At least I can pride myself on not using such nasty words, so yeah, I guess I am a patient umm, guy. And yes, 'The Coast' IS another crappy AC station. Another automated piece of crap that cost people their jobs. Take it to the bank. Perhaps instead of being a shill for Cox Media you should take this up with a counselor, or maybe, even the people who got fired for this piece of crap....

Yelling at the toaster " HURRY UP ALREADY!"

Isn't that what they were doing over cocktails that afternoon? Don't kill the patient to prevent the disease. It really doesn't work all that well. Just listen, it's all the proof you need.

"All I'm saying is, give things a little time. You never know.... or do YOU?"

Yes, I DO know. And aparently that isn't all you're saying... Have you ever worked in radio and lost your job due to corporate downsizing?

"Why the rush to condemn?"

Why are you asking me that question? I'm not the one who condemned the format instead of fixing it.

"Look, I don't care either way whether this station succeeds or falls flat on it's face."

Yeah, that's why you spent your time defending their idiotic format change, right??

I'm not in a good mood right now. Thanks for brightening my day with your idiocy.

Oh yes, I'm sure you're an exemplary, stand up citizen who has never uttered a profane word in his life...Deal with it ok. Yes, some people lost their jobs. THAT'S what happens in radio. Reality is, some people do have to lose their jobs for others to get jobs. Hardly a shill for Cox Radio, as I work for another of your favorite corporate giants. There goes that argument.

Apparently, that IS all I'm saying, but thanks for dissecting my words ever so closely. Fired? I've been in radio for 20 years, yeah I've been let go due to downsizing ( and other reasons..DOH!) .Like I said above that's radio, that's the business we're in. And you? Been fired before? Been in radio a long time?

If the race horse has a broken leg, you don't try to fix it, you shoot it.

I'm not defending anything or anybody, I'm just so tired of people like you who show absolutely no patience what so ever for anything. You remind me of some schmoe I saw online last year who said "The Mets better do something soon, or their season is over" And this was after the FIRST game of the year. Remember, patience is a virtue.

If you're not in a good mood because of this format flip or because of words on a message board, then I think you're the one in need of the counseling you suggested for me above. For what it's worth, your anguish over this situation has brightened my day. Thank you sunshine.

So if the horse has a broken leg you shoot it? That's your answer? Man, you don't have a leg to stand on in this argument. Talk about no patience for anything... this station could have been fixed, easily. Your argument about me having no patience makes no more sense than the lack of patience Cox had for "shooting the horse".

You talk in circles and you contradict your own statements.

Oh, and by the way, I don't have anguish over this particular situation, I have anguish for all of radio, and the direction the broadcast industry is taking. Shooting itself in the foot at every turn. Besides, not that you care, but I'm moving out of the area to Tolland County, where there's still a hell of a lot more variety than we have around here...

Boy, you just don't see the big picture or understand the definition of an analogy do you? If a race horse has a broken leg, he's no good to you, you shoot it. If a station isn't making money over the course of time (and I'm sure they were given an adequate amount of time), you shoot it as well. In this case, you flip it. Since you think KOOL could have been fixed "easily" (your word), do tell us all how that may have been accomplished.

Why is there anguish at all? Have you worked in radio, have you been screwed over? It's just radio. Get an Ipod, get satellite. Life is far too short to anguish over something as trivial as radio.
Good luck with your move, and I hope radio in Tolland county serves your needs better than your current location.
