According to Barry Horn, 105.3 KLLI is now 105.3 KRLD-FM.
Does that make it easy for the Rangers to move to the FM side.

So I assume this will be a 'resuming' of the format from 92.5/KRLD-FM, since they used the calls there 1948-72? I think I still have some of their "Radio Love Dallas" jingles. Jon Dillon was there then...maybe he can shed some light on this...perhaps he'll bring back his "Montage" show. I'm sure the sports format is all stunting. ;D

Then again, isn't this just history repeating itself? All those years that Channel 4 was KRLD-TV, then that goes away when the Times Herald is sold in 1970, then the KRLD-TV calls pop up again at Channel 33 in 1984.
 
Wow! It will make it easier to move programming from one station to the other. One wonders if they're going to make a play for the Cowboys at some point in the near future. They could simulcast the Rangers starting this coming season too.

As I said in an earlier thread. I can easily see some Rangers daytime (weekday) games moving to 105.3 from 1080. Perhaps down the road, CBS could bid for rights to Cowboys games and use the combined coverage of 1080 & 105.3 as a selling point.

Is there a problem between the Cowboys and KTCK? All the talk of them threatening to opt out the contract next season...is Jerry just shopping around for an outlet that would be less critical? The talk of them leaving has been floating out there before KRLD-FM debuted. Since it debuted, the speculation is they will move there for a better signal. If that were the only issue, a better signal next year seems easily solved within the Cumulus cluster -- seems like just moving the FM simulcast from KDBN to KPLX would solve the signal issue since KPLX is a Cedar Hill full class C (and providing the same coverage as 105.3); it's not like them airing on a full market FM country signal would be unheard of (WKDF 103.3 Nashville and WFUS 103.5 Tampa Bay are the NFL flagships for the Titans and Bucs).

I think it's a combination of content and facility. I'm sure Jerry isn't thrilled with the critical comments of the Ticket's hosts, but they've also got to be a little concerned with the weakness of the signals they are on. Neither 93.3 nor 1310 are really "full power" type of outlets. 105.3 and 1080 are both top notch signals. Just moving to KPLX wouldn't solve the weakness of the 1310 signal. Regardless of how you slice it, 1310 "The Ticket" is the primary station for the Cowboys. "The Bone" is just the simulcast partner. KPLX would be the same thing. I think Jerry would like a station that could rely on its own home signal to support the team's broadcasts. The Ticket can't do that right now. KRLD-FM could. Tying it with KRLD-AM would be a good bonus. Moving the games away from some of your harshest critics would be an even better bonus.

Ever since Cumulus Media made the deal to bring the Cowboys to KTCK/KDBN they have said that station personalities did not have to sugar coat their comments on the team.

We know that 1310 is not the best of signals, but moving the FM flagship to KPLX or just broadcasting the games on the entire Cumulus Media Dallas stations should more than make up for the signal problems.
 
KRLD-FM The Fan, it all makes perfect sense.

I do think anyone who names their sports station The Ticket or The Fan should be shot on sight though. Besides the two originators.
 
Am I the only one here who thinks that, should the sports format fail on 105.3, they'll pickup the news/talk format from the AM station, hence the calls?
 
This would have been a great time for KRLD to still be at The Ballpark. That was a great place.
