New CBS Sports Network?

Rumors from friends in Pittsburgh tell me that there may be a new nationwide sports network from CBS soon that would cover the major markets, many on FM. Is there any speculation as to what station might be involved in LA if any? Inquiring minds.....

what would the network consist of? news? cbs doesn't have any national shows right?

It most likely wouldn't happen in L.A., ratings for sports stations have been really low. Since CBS is only in it for the money, they realize money couldn't be made in FM sports talk here...

It would probably go the way of FM Talk - come on strong and then fizzle out. Unless the affiliates also anchored with a local sports team, it probably wouldn't fly. No one in LA wants to hear what the Red Sox or Phillies are up to or vice versa

The only "network" I can see on CBS' FM sports talk stations is a national overnight show. Would be, of course, cheaper to have one host on several stations than to pay several hosts in different markets in a daypart that is not that important, billing-wise.

Look like at how bad KLAC is doing since they lost the Lakers. They are national with an L.A. slant. Imagine if we get a CBS Sports Network based out of the east coast with all Yankees-Red Sox talk. Forget it!

Exactly! Petros and Money do a EXCELLENT job at providing that slant! I wish KLAC would find more hosts like them...
