new CC BULL?

Has CC recognized AGAIN that Tucson could support another Country station? And will they wrestle 92.9 back away from the Tim and Debbie show as their next BULL? CC is switching big signals over to become the second Country station in other markets, most recently the Bull in Atlanta this week. The Bull is their Country brand.

Or will it be Journal getting their KICKS by flipping the failing Z to become a Country competitor?

And how hysterical would it be to have Citadel do what they did last time this was about to happen? Since BOB is going nowhere fast and is nothing more than a combo buy with KIIM, why not beat the BULL by bringing back the CAT?

Personally I think Z's playlist is the actual problem. Adding more up-tempo music would help. Z is aiming at 30s and 40s females. They're somewhat hypocritical, they want to be the fun adult station that doesn't put you to sleep yet their base playlist consists of The Fray, Snow Patrol, Five For Fighting, and so on. Yawn. I'm not saying that those aren't bands their demographics like, but you've gotta have SOME kind of spark, especially if you're marketing as a fun-adult station. To add on, they're trying to take away from the Mountain (which is failing and is not a fun-adult station so WHY?!?!) when they should be trying to take from KRQ, which has been a ratings champ for a while. If only Z did this three years ago. Now it seems a bit too late...

Also, again the problem is that too many stations in Tucson sound alike. Mountain, BOB, Z, and Mix all sound alike, regardless of their stated "format", they still aim the same 30-40s females. Even ROCK 107.5 has added recent rock to their playlist (Linkin Park and the like). Seems like Hot 983 is the only station playing something different. Ballinnnnnnnnnn.

For CC they don't really care. They're lucky enough to have two decently rated stations in this city (KRQ and Hot).

And no matter what, I still think BOB would do fantastic as a rhythmic/dance-lite station, similar to the Power format. It would kill Hot 983 and slightly lower KRQ, especially Hot since their signal on the south part of town is weak and while BOB's isn't fantastic, it's way more listenable. That would make an extreme Citadel vs CC.

Journal will never go back to Country. The only change coming to Journal is Bobby and Brad will thankfully and finally go away. They're going to bring some female blood into the "mix" and dump Brad who is without a contract and out of Denver. All they need to do is find a way to make Bobby think it was his idea. You should see the bills for that disasterous situation. There was some talk about 'tweaking' Mega to Movin' but that is on hold since "Mega is healthy". Z was put on a six-nine month life support at the end of 06, but "have made tremendous strides with Z104.1". Who are they trying to fool?

I really doubt that Bobby will ever go away. Bobby is to soft rock in Tucson as Alan Michaels is to Oldies. Even after Clear Channel killed both Cool Oldies on 92.9 and Coyote Country, they still kept Alan on in the mornings for Cool 1450AM.

As long as Mix-FM is on the air, Bobby Rich will always have a job.

How is Booby & Brad "disasterous"? Hasn't Cloud 95 typically been a solid #2
(and on occasion, numero uno) in Tucson books going back into the 1990s?

Geez, first the Giant 580 banishes Dancin' Dan to night pattern Siberia and now
you want to kill off the "Brain File." ;D

??? Yea why hasn't there been a soft rock AC to break up the Cloud 95 numbers....just like when all those country stations bunched up on KIIM????? :'(

None of the top stations are going to make any changes.

The new book has KIIM #1 12+ and #2 25-54.
MIX at #2 12+ and #1 25-54.
KRQ #3 12+ and #3 25-54.

These are the big three in town.

KCMT, KLPX and KHYT are next on down by a pretty wide margin.

The HOT and the KNST are doing well in their chosen target demos. The BOB and the MOUNTAIN are only discussed by radio and advertising folks, they are marginal in ratings.

All other local stations are below the line in terms of profitable products.
