This might have something to do with Rincon being acquired by Sinclair. Happened Today. Was surprised to see it

KIMA newscasts apparently moved from Yakima to Tri-Cities amid ownership changes

Longtime Yakima television station KIMA is in the midst of the second ownership change in two months, with nightly broadcasts apparently moving from Yakima to the Tri-Cities.

It was only a matter of time. I expect the building demolished by the end of the year, and maybe 1-2 reporters based in an office bureau somewhere on Yakima Ave like the other Tri stations.
Rest in peace, KIMA. Jimmy Nolan and TJ Close are spinning in their graves.

It's the Tri-Yak News on channels 19 and 29 in central Washington. Revamped news branding as of today, May 5th, 2026.
It seems that KIMA reporters are still around, and Austin Peppers is still doing sports from the old building. But I assume it won't be for long, and Austin might go down to Pasco over time.

The new branding hasn't yet made it to their website, but they are using it on the air, I just saw it on NewsOn.
