New Chief Weather Guesser at CBS5

Saw him last night. Has a great TV voice! Seemed to be knowledgable about weather. I'm sure that Seen explained to him that thunderstorms tend to fall apart as they enter the Valley and Chris mentioned that on the early news. To his credit, he added that "these thunderstorms don't seem to be falling apart" and he was right.

Yeah, I got the idea he knows what he was talking about. I hope that's a trend. He was at WSVN in Miami, KUTV in SLC, KYW in Philly and KDVR in Denver, being Chief Meteorologist at the last three stations. He is also a pilot, so he brings that perspective on the weather also. His wife was a U of A grad and his mother-in-law lives in Ahwatukee, so he's familiar with the Valley. (This was all in the biographical clip they showed on the 10 PM news last night.)

So, finally the Valley has someone who didn't just get promoted from Albuquerque, Palm Springs, or Rawlins WY.

Why do almost all weather guessers voice through the city temps when they are clearly shown on the map behind them?

Because it's very, very important that we need to know that it's 109 at Sky Harbor, 108 in Mesa, 108 in Scottsdale, 109 in Goodyear, 107 in Peoria, 107 in Fountain Hills, 107 in Apache Junction, 108 in Glendale, 106 at Luke AFB, 106 in Sun City, 107 in Fountain Hills, 105 at Deer Valley, 104 in Anthem, and 102 in Wickenburg.

Still better than Dave Munsey reciting every city in the US that received more than 2" of rain that day. I mean, I'm impressed that Demopolis, Alabama picked up more rain in an hour than we see in six months, but my life won't be any poorer for not having known that.

I'll defend Dave. He realizes that many Arizonans are transplants from other areas of the country. At least, he takes a bit of time to let viewers know what's going on across the country!
