New CHR for Austin?

While sitting through what seemed like a 10 minute commercial break on KHFI it occured to me that someone could counterprogram with a wall-to-wall music presentation. The likeliest candidate? Tejano KTXZ 1560. The format has yet to show in the ratings. And it now has an FM translator on 95.1. Why not make it a David v Goliath contest. Remember Hot Hits 79Q in Houston. An AM top 40 came out of nowhere to shoot to the top. Thoughts?

Well, if 1560 had any kind of signal it might do something. Does anyone know if KONO 860 pulls any numbers down in SA?

I never expected 860 to still be simulcasting after all these years. I thought for sure it would have gone to something else once it passed it audience over to its Fredericksburg-- now Helotes-- signal.

Well sir, they were still there yesterday evening! Every time I turn them on, it's just like it's 1978 all over again, as far as both the music and the sound quality is concerned. ;D I have to admit, it sounds just like the old radio KRGV down in Weslaco from that time.

There is no way to know how much audience the AM has, as KONO AM & FM has elected single line reporting where 100% simulcasts are listed in Arbitron as a single station.

A Station like KONO in Austin would be nice I listen to KONO every time i'm in SA I used to listen to the Llano oldies station when it had a transmitter here.
