New CHR in Augusta - Y102.3

I understand the range issues but remember this is the frequency that Eagle 102 had and they had some pretty decent ratings. Sad to see another country station bite the dust though. I was amazed at just how horrible Clear Channel ran that station. Sad.

I lived in Aiken for a while and it came in fine for me (I was in the southside). That was back in the Eagle days.

Given the way this station's been run, I'm betting an Ace & TJ type morning show, Seacrest in the afternoons, VT'd nights and/or mid-days, etc. I just wish they'd get a more presentable logo. At least it's a little more variety if you like CHR. I agree Bull was pretty sad.

If they go Ace/TJ/Seacrest, or Elvis Duran/Seacrest and a load of VTs, they'll just fail again. Folks, let's remember - that's ESSENTIALLY the route they were going with WZNY (Y 105) when they ran THAT CHR into the ground a few years back.

WHHD has done a pretty good job serving the market; my only beef is the lack of a local morning show, but given the industry's struggles of late, their choice is at least formidable and stable.

if I'm Beasley, I remind folks, subtley, that CC left Augusta without a hit music station for YEARS, and that HD is there to stay.

Vt'ing isn't bad as long as the jock knows their audience, what is going on locally and the listener can communicate with the jock(i.e. Facebook, twitter etc.).  If the jock can record his show the day of and change breaks at will with programs such as Scott Studios and NextGen,it is essentially just like a live shift.

I feel the same way about that logo. Surely they'll get something better before they make promo items. It looks like something for an easy listening station in the 1970s. I could make something better in Paint.

I think this station could do something if they work with it....it has better coverage than WCHZ which last got a 4 share 12+, but WCHZ doesn't have any competition really. New call letters WZNY.

102.3 has always had a sucky signal in the Augusta area. You have the Fox in Columbia, which is stronger than Augusta's station, so you don't have to go much past Aiken for their signal to be overridden.

Forget about it during these great times for tropo. WMFX will overpower this station all the way into North Augusta and many parts of the CSRA.

That 105.7 signal they were on before was one of the biggest signals in the Southeast (can be heard well in Walterboro and thru most of the Columbia area), and now, with a third of the signal, they won't do well.

Count me in for the "hate the logo" party as well. They are also using the same bland voice guy as CC launched their top 40's with in Greensboro, NC and Chattanooga. Music is good though.

HD has already responded with "5000 songs = $5000"

I wish they would have gone for a logo/website like WMKS in Greensboro: http://www.1057hitmusicnow.com; I like the way that looks.

I am liking the music too; I'm sure it'll be run on the cheap (understandably due to the signal), but I hope they at least put forward a little more effort than with The Bull. Haven't heard HD lately, so I can't really compare the 2. After the 5000 songs are over I expect Seacrest and a piped in morning show; if I were them I would run Seacrest mid-days, then maybe live afternoons with the rest voicetracked.

Now they're doing 10,000 songs and have "Heh, top that" under it on their website. Weren't they just doing 5k? Naturally a response to HD.
