New CHR In Tyler-Longview: The Breeze

This former Soft AC station decided to keep its name ,just like 96.5 The Mountain Chattanooga, but has gonefull on CHR/Pop. Since it's owned by a smaller radio company (again, just like 96.5 The Mountain) the presentation is great, the way a great CHR should be. You can listen to the stream online for yourself when you get a chance:

Best of luck to 95.3/102.3 The Breeze

Sorry Chrles but I have to disagree with your opinion.

Hey doctor_radio, guess what? This station is in a tight race with your station and WDJQ for the biggest joke in US CHR radio. Yall have bad/long imaging, playing stiffs and unfocused music in common. Actually your station sounds better than "the Breeze" which isn't saying a whole lot. :)

If KKCK is making money... than it's hardly a "big joke." Why are you so put off my a CHR that does things differently but still works?

They say the same about the station I work for,,, But we now stream live, so see for yourself. http://www.wbwb.com/ I think we are a very fair balanced station, and it works in our Indiana College town. By the way,, I dont think The Breeze sounds bad musically,, but they need to drop the name eventually, Breeze sounds too wimpy for a station playing Lil Wayne.... As for The Mountain,, Nothing wrong with using that name for a CHR in that CHATT market.

They might want to update their website and take down the pictures of their previous format's mainstays like Phil Collins, Rod Stewart, Billy Joel, etc.. Now if it were 1988, and not 2008 it might work... ::)

Maybe their PD thinks they are still the core artists in 2008 ;D

Let me guess, to make the older listeners happy, The Breeze will air Backtraxx USA?

Nobody cares about the old listeners after a flip. :p

Maybe they do care about the old listeners as they still have pictures of Phil Collins, Rod Stewart, Billy Joel, etc. (AC core artists) on their website. 8)

If we are going to throw in 96.5 the Mountain Chattanooga in this message post, they decided to keep their older listeners happy by adding Backtraxx on Sunday mornings.

lol. cheap owners, apparently. leave the website, and satellite it! (yep. Dial Global's new CHR "Hits Now!" format)

This stations playlist is all over the place..They just went from Huey Lewis-The Power of Love straight into 50 Cent-Just a Lil' Bit! If you check yes.com they still have a lot of soft rock from the 80's mixed in there.

Perhaps it is just a temporary fix. I remember when what is now Milwaukee's Alternative station flipped from urban to Alternative in like 1994 or so...they were all over the place. Playing all of the urban music they had before...plus all the Alternative music they started playing later. they even added a ton of CHR and dance stuff...my feeling is they were searching for what new sound works best for their listeners. Perhaps it is the same situation with The Breeze.
