New CHR Station Speculation in Pittsburgh

There is speculation that 92.9 WLTJ Lite rock in Pittsburgh, PA will be changing it's format to CHR as B92.9 after Christmas?

Hmmm...that rumor has been bubbling around since WBZZ's demise in 2004, so this speculation comes as no surprise. And with WKST leaning Rhythmic this move could make the Top 40 scene in Pittsburgh more intriguing than ever.

I will say relatively the same thing as I did on the Pittsburgh board. I think a "Z93" presentation like in Dayton would work well in Pittsburgh. It's not Star 100.7, with the excessive 80's music, but it's not "Kiss" with the excessive urban feel.

Sounds perfect. It's exactly what we need in Pittsburgh.

Just bring Morgantown's CHR into Pittsburgh. What is it, Q101 I think? Man, what a great station!

I think it is Q 102 101.9 WVAQ and what a great station it is:) That station was around over 20 years ago when I was going to overnight summer camp in West Virginia

It's kind of sad when a station in market #174 has to show people in market #23 what an actual CHR should sound like. Let's face it Kiss really stinks. (Unless you want to hear some 4 or 5 year old Eminem song.)

Ummm yeah, b/c the CHR in Pittsburgh (market 27), St. Louis (market 20), Detroit (market 10), or Los Angeles (market 2) don't sound anything like the CHR in Pittsburgh, right? And they're all failing miserably in the ratings, right?

If anything, if Pittsburgh gets another CHR it will more then likely be a Rhythmic CHR similar to all "The Beat" stations around the country. Now if that happens there's a chance Kiss FM will start sounding less Rhythmic. It might model itself after stations like 93.3 FLZ Tampa (market 21) or Z-100 (market 1), but it sure as hell won't model itself after a station serving market number (gasp!) 174!!!

For the record, it's "get a life CHRles, YOUR posts are useless".
It's really not that hard to spell the word "your" properly.

BTW, if my posts are indeed so useless why do you even read them? And why are you getting all worked up, and rudely asking me to shut up?Why are you SHOUTING at me to get a life, and emphasizing the word USELESS?

Happy Holidays from a curious and useless regular to this board,

jkf - I think that WLTJ is here to stay for the time being... The fact that wltj.com and b929.com have the same tech support and admin contact address does not mean much. Both stations probably have the same web guru. I wrote to Tammy Baxter, the admin contact for b929.com and here is what she had to say:

-------------------------------------

Hi David -

We host over 260 radio station websites and I purchase domains for almost
every market in the country.

The best thing for you to do if you are concerned about what is happening
with WLTJ would be to contact the station directly.

Thank you and Happy Holidays.

I'd assume this means that many other radio stations over the country have this same contact address.

Have you seen the K-Rock ratings dropping like a rock in the ocean? I'm guessing B-93.7 will be back in Pittsburgh before you know it...

I would rather 96.1 Kiss flip to Rhythmic/CHR and to get a brand new true-sounding CHR/Pop in Pittsburgh. :) I think 93.7 is most-likely to change formats now with Howard gone and the ratings dropping. How many months do we give our friend David Lee Roth?

It would be awesome if Kiss morphed into an all-out Rhythmic, and a balanced CHR/Pop station were to debut, but I wouldn't be surprised is Kiss stays the market CHR/Pop station.
As for Diamond Dave, all bets are off from me until I give this guy a chance, and hear how good/bad he is.
