Some letter grades and my best current guestimate at peak CHR/Pop chart position (NC=peak outside the top 40):

1. Leona Lewis - Better In Time (A, #3)
2. Mariah Carey - I'll Be Lovin' U Long Time (C-, #27)
3. Madonna - Give It 2 Me (D, NC)
4. Taylor Swift - Picture To Burn (B+, #19)
5. Jason Mraz - I'm Yours (C, NC)
6. Carrie Underwood - Last Name (B, #24)
7. Menudo - Lost (C-, #33)

SO what is the story with "Last Name?"

It had an adds date for CHR/Pop and then it was pulled, though from what I understand, all of the stations have it. A friend of mine called his local CHR to request it and was told that "they weren't allowed to play this," meaning that someone presumably at the label is telling them not to play it... does anyone know what's up here?

No, it means it's not on the playlist.

OK... but that didn't really answer my question... is the label going for pop airplay on this or not? No one seems to know.

RCA will go for Carrie Underwood at CHR, but I don't think it's gonna have Taylor Swift type of success. Leona Lewis and Mariah Carey are both top 5 records at pop I think, and honestly both will probably go top 10 at LEAST at rhythm. Those are the only two hits out of the group. I think Jason Mraz could hit top 20, but I've loved that song since I first heard it like three years ago, so I'm a little partial. Madonna needs to give it up.

Leona Lewis will be the only one out of that list to peak in the Top 10.

Mariah Carey will peak in the #20-#15 range.

Madonna won't do anything, sadly.

Taylor Swift. #25 peak.

Jason Mraz won't do anything.

Carrie Underwood, Top 30, maybe.

Menudo will reach Top 20 and die fast.
