New Class A station coming to Monroe on 93.5 FM

Probably not happening. He got the CP to sell it, but neither group can buy it. His tower site isn't 'factual' either. He will need to find someone independent that wants it. My understanding is that he just wants to sell the CP.

Is anyone in the Monroe area able to confirm an unlicensed station on 93.5? While driving on I-20 around Monroe, I heard a station with terribly distorted audio identifying itself as KYEA. Can't find any reference to a licensed facility with those call letters. Could be interesting once KPDJ is built and on the air.

Interestingly enough there is a station licensed at 94.3 in Enterprise, Louisiana. (Catahoula Parish) but it is now off the air. Wonder if it will sign-on again.

@rfburns Hm well I have no idea. Could it actually be 93.5 KJAE in Leesville? What was the format? Maybe you've mistakened the callsigns for KJAE?

Btw, I know that KYFJ 93.7 in Lafayette have been wanting to move to 93.5 MHz for over two decades, even before being sold by Citadel; but the FCC have never approved it.

Nope - not KJAE. I heard a mix of urban and soul music. I know they identified at KYEA and it definitely is in the Monroe La. area. It isn't a licensed facility from what I can tell.

Cosmic - I was looking through the KYFJ archived applications and could not find a move to 93.5 in their filings. Do you have a link to this application? I could have easily overlooked it.

RFB - FCC Commissioner Michael O'Rielly was at the LAB/MAB convention last week and reiterated his disdain for pirates, right in front of the New Orleans FCC staff. Perhaps a quick call to the New Orleans FCC Field Office would get some action? KPDJ should be interference-free when it hits the air... later this year, perhaps?

No idea when KPDJ will be on the air - definitely before the CP runs out. I want to confirm that what I heard was an actual broadcast on 93.5 before I make any inquiries.

Looks like it recently got a buyer: Educational Media Foundation.

So, CW was right when he said religion.
