New Classical Station In St. Louis?

I am also receiving the 96.7 signal, and I am 10 miles east of downtown STL. Here it mixes with WCXO Carlyle, and is scratchy.

A lot of moves today in STL radio. When it rains it pours.

Good to hear a full time commercial classical station will return to STL soon at the all new 96.7 FM!

Well, that is unfortunate. The first news stories about the RAFSTL were reported last April with a starting date of June 2012. It was then pushed back to Labor Day 2012. Then into the fall of 2012. I then heard sometime after mid February 2013.

Their website has offered no updates since it was launched--they should at least drop the phrase "we're counting the hours..." as that ship has sailed. Their Facebook page isn't much better, aside from most people asking "When are you guys going to be on the air," without any replies or updates there either.

At this point I'm doubting that this station will ever make it on the air.

My skepticism stems from the fact that they could launch their station from their proposed HD-2 stream (96.3), and from an online stream with mobile app. Those things do not require FCC approval.

I agree they have been counting the hours for the last year. haha

They never give any updates which is inexcusable.

No reason is given for the frequency change but they never keep us updated on the old frequency. They are doing an awful job of communicating. The webpage or facebook has not been updated since it was made. They seem so not want to give an info out of fear things could change. But I do not agree with that.

They should have been giving updates as they went along. If things change like having to change frequencies just give the update.

I agree they could have gone live online and 96.3 HD2. Maybe they feel they would lose money until the analog translator comes on. But I thought the 96.7 translator was on relaying 97.1 but I am in central Illinois so I do not know if its still on. I guess the 96.7 has some problems or maybe the studio is still not ready. But we do not know what is going on because they do not give any updates.

I found this article last night from the stlbeacon.org site. It's worth noting that the article was not linked on the RAFSTL Facebook page:

https://www.stlbeacon.org/#!/content/28973/radio_arts_update_012113

According to this article, the "new" date is March. I'll believe it when I see it.

According to their facebook page 107.3 has been on the air since Tuesday 4/2/2013 testing. I wish I could listen online now.

I was in downtown Saint Louis on Friday 3/31/2013 for an appointment and stayed the whole day. I also went to the Zoo. Too bad RAF was not on yet but I did enjoy listening to classical music on KWMU 90.7 HD3 which came in perfect with no dropouts. 96.3 HD2 was still broadcasting KTFK on 3/31/2013.

Brian, the station went on sometime Tuesday morning on 107.3 . According to Jim Doyle (afternoon personality on RAFSTL), the station is in a testing phase for the week before the official launch on the 8'th.

I live on the Illinois side (Maryville/Collinsville/Troy) of the metro, but receive the 107.3 signal well, considering I'm outside the coverage area. On the road, the station tends to fade but that is to be expected here. Since Tuesday evening, RAFSTL is now carried on KIHT HD-2.

What used to be carried on that HD-2, KFTK (Emmis' news talk station on 97.1) is now located on KSHE's HD-3 signal. This move displaces "My '80's Channel," which used to be the occupant at KSHE HD-3.

Thanks for the update. I am sorry about your oldies station. Hopefully someone picks it up for you.

107.3 filed a licence to cover tonight with the FCC.

What is the RAF airing? A loop of classical music or the Beethoven Satellite Network or live announcers?

thanks
