New "Cleveland's Oldies" station on WCLE/99.1FM -- In Cleveland....But...

It seems like there are oldies stations everywhere except in Cleveland OH. Not even on an HD sub.

And how did a station in Cleveland TN get those call letters and not one in Cleveland OH?

Chuck Matthews (formerly of WMJI and WAKR) has his own online oldies station coincidentally dubbed "WCLE-DB".

They were available after WCLE moved to Akron in 1944 and became WHKK.

I've never understood why people pay for DB Calls.. it doesnt mean anything and hold any water/status... the DB database money is just lining some dudes pocket

Because I wanted to. Hell, I could do it w/o paying. In fact, I think it's overdue. As for a station in CLE not using WCLE, I agree it's a no brainer. However, all the present calls are heritage so why change? As for no "oldies" or even 60s/70s classic hits (pop) on a WMJI HD, or another signal... the public at large doesn't know what HD radio is, or cares. CLEOldies.com is no longer viable due to hosting fees going through the roof, but a website isn't needed. Just a streaming portal, and social media. So, listen here CLE Oldies FB page Northcoastsgreatesthits.com | Cleveland OH

I'm biased, but it sounds pretty good, from the music to the processing, and of course the imaging. John and Heidi weekday mornings, syndicated shows throughout the week and weekend. Not voicetracked outside of AM drive and syndication. Not needed.

BTW.... can hear me on my weekly nationally syndicated 3HR classic hits show Greatest Hits USA. 145 affiliates and counting.

"Locally".... GreatestHitsUSA airs Fridays 6pm, replays Sundays 2p, on CLEOldies

My prior experience with syndication was hosting/writing a show for the Good Times, Great Oldies channel on Primestar Satellite (1998-99), which became DirecTV
