New CNN International Graphics

CNN International has unveiled all new graphics today. The CNN logo is at the top-left hand corner of the screen, and the ticker is no longer scrolling.
(as far as I know, CNN/US graphics and ticker are the same).

They look very errily similar to the BBC World News Graphics. They look a little too cheesy.

Too bad those of us in the U.S. can't get the channel. When oh when will CNN finally push for distribution here in the states?

CNN International available in the U.S.

It is available in the U.S. as a 24/7 channel. The cable system in Acworth, GA carries it on their digital package. It used to be available on DirecTV until Rupert Murdoch and company took over and pulled the channel (I wonder why?)

Try contacting your cable or satellite operator and see if they will carry it.

Incorrect presumption

CNN International was only available on DirecTV as a hybrid channel created by CNN. During stock market coverage, the channel carried CNNfn, otherwise it was CNNi.

When CNNfn ceased operation, CNN cancelled the hybrid channel and did not offer DirecTV the option of carrying CNNi full-time in its place.<P ID="signature">______________

Re: Incorrect presumption

My understanding is that it actually had real news, unlike CNN.

We get CNNI on Qwest Cable in Phoenix. It replaced CNNfn, when that channel went out of business.

CNNi is pretty good. The nice thing is that the newscasts are geared toward a European time zone. Thus, they have news when regular CNN doesn't. Also, the anchors seem to have real personality -- what a concept!!

New Graphics

I saw the new CNNi package on regular CNN the other night when they carried some breaking news regarding Ariel Sharon. And I must say I liked it quite well. It looks very British, like something Channel 4, Sky, or BBC would do.

It was readable, bold, seemed more related to the story (as opposed to distracting from it).

(And, FWIW, the easiest way to get CNN International in the US now is to subscribe to CNN's Pipeline broadband package. One of the 24/7 video streams included is CNNi.)
