New Columbia Ratings

Wow, WXBT is the number 1 station overall in the capitol city! I am amazed. Competitor WHXT continues to lag behind. Spanish WCEO continues to climb in numbers in the ratings, while WARQ continues to drop. I could seriously see a Spanish on the FM dial in Columbia soon. Changes I could see in Cola are spanish coming to 93.5, and WHXT doing some tweaking to keep up with WXBT(PLEASE DROP THE WENDY WILLIAMS SHOW!!!)

WQVA, the former WLGO, is doing well, in ##'s and billing. Both stations combnied would beat WARQ 12+.

The big shocker is Fox 102 doing so poorly 12+. Steve-FM is still growing. WWNU bounced back up. Wild trend, this one.

It would make sense for Fox 102 to go mainstream or active rock and put spanish on 93-5. Steve and Bad Dog play a lot of the same music Fox is playing now. Also, I think WHXT should switch to Rhy. Top 40 to compete with WNOK while trying to still compete with WXBT at the same time. 96.1 the beat in charlotte is a perfect example. As for the modern rock/active rock fix, I can't think of any other station in Columbia that would switch, unless WARQ settles for their numbers even though, like you pointed out, the 2 spanish stations combined beat WARQ. It's getting very interesting around here. I'm so surprised WXBT is the leader in the cap. city. Their playlist is cookie cutter and there are no surprises. The problems with WHXT are the LONGGGGG commercial breaks, and The Wendy Williams show. Her show does not mix well with the music WHXT mixes in. Her show focuses on women's issues and gossip, then to hear a song about Booties, Getting Crunk, etc take the seriousness out of her show. If anything, she belongs on DM.

Bad Dog is non-factor. It is drawing as many folks as Mix 93.9 did.

> Fox will hang in there I think . If anything how about 93.9 going spanish and using the 93.5 signal to compete again 104.7?? More bang for the buck. Clear Channel could even can steve and do better doing spanish. In Atl. 96.7 went spanish with 105.7 and is realing doing good.
