New Comedy Central Logo

  • Thread starter nickelodeonfan97
  • Start date

a fat, sloppy, hairy guy with a toilet where his mouth should be
would be more apropos ::)

To me the new logo reminds me of its original one before Viacom and HBO merged HA! and The Comedy Channel

I love the new logo!
The old logo looked outdated and sloppy, this is simple and clean and reflects on the 21st century.

How much of their audience will be able to fully understand the subtleties of a C and a larger backward C?
Even after that inspiring video? ???

That's what I thought when I saw it too. How I wish for the old days of the comedy channel

As to why "Central is upside down": perhaps the graphics plan includes rotation (so Central would be right side up but you'd still have double Cs)?

I can't get over how much it looks like the © symbol.

I don't watch the channel anymore, but I did like the logo from 2000. That's when it first became available on my cable line-up. Back then, you didn't have to deal with some pop-up running around distracting you from whatever program you were trying to watch.

As for this new logo, it looks too simple imo. I'm not sure it will last.

Google "FCC logo" and you'll see their double C is nearly identical. ???

Just saying. ;)

Considering the original logo (and Comedy Central) was created out of a hasty merger for Viacom to not have to lose their shirt on HA!, that the globe stuck around for twenty years is a miracle in itself. I always thought it made the channel look like a cheap and downmarket operation when that definitely wasn't the case by 2003.

Also I think they had to go with a different design for sure; their initials are "CC" and they had to be very careful to stay away from anything which would be confused with a closed captioning logo.

I like the new logo. It's clean and simple with a little bit of mischief involved with the upside-down C and Central, along with the negative space. Certainly much better than MTV cutting their 'legs' off the M in February and the newer VH1 logo, which looked aged even when it was introduced in 2005. I think once we see it on TDS and Colbert it'll work much better with those shows since it has a simple 'news' look to it.

Odd enough, being "cc" they have to steer clear of anything that already relates to "cc", which means, not only closed captions, but also other companies, like Clear Channel, for example.

hmmm.......that logo looks suspiciously like The Prophet Mohammed to me.....

Now if they brought back Penn Jillette as their imaging voice, that would really be an improvement!
