The connection made to an "upcoming" business move does not = he was convinced at that "meeting".
Whatever. Nitpicking. Doesn't change the situation one bit.
BTW his father died almost two years ago, in February 2022.

I'd hardly call it nitpicking. You simply can't present an opinion as a fact.Whatever. Nitpicking.
I'd hardly call it nitpicking. You simply can't present an opinion as a fact.
You should say “it‘s unsuccessful format after 40 years.”Saying you're nitpicking isn't an opinion.
Throughout this thread, people have been wondering why is this station changing it's format after 40 years to one that's already being done on four other stations. My post (#40) was the answer. No opinion.
Yet KYST plans to abandon Spanish Full Service in favor of Conservative News/Talk "in 100% English."First generation immigrants generally retain the use of Spanish as their primary language for their whole life. That means that, were inbound migration to cease today, Spanish language media can do very well for 30, 40 or more years still.
Yes, and KYST is an AM station with a bad signal.Yet KYST plans to abandon Spanish Full Service in favor of Conservative News/Talk "in 100% English."
Yet the NAB is pushing hard to keep AM alive with those "PSAs" member stations play. I've heard them on standalone FMs, which is ridiculous!Yes, and KYST is an AM station with a bad signal.
No group of people listens to AM less than Hispanics. In fact, Mexico declared AM dead some years back and allowed 80% of all AMs to move to FM. The only ones remaining are almost all on the US border or in the 3 biggest cities in Mexico.
Then it looks like Univision bailed-out at just the right time, and found the ideal buyer. Someone with deep pockets and no knowledge of radio. No group of people listens to AM less than Hispanics. Why can't you allow yourself to just say you made a mistake and be done? You've gone as far as to play mental gymnastics with the definition of words before admitting a simple mistake.Saying you're nitpicking isn't an opinion.
No one has been wondering.Throughout this thread, people have been wondering why is this station changing it's format after 40 years
It's an opinion to say that the "meeting" (no reasonable person who has seen the picture would call it one) was what caused him to change formats.to one that's already being done on four other stations. My post (#40) was the answer. No opinion.
They got an amazing deal on some ocean front property in Arizona. Then it looks like Univision bailed-out at just the right time, and found the ideal buyer. Someone with deep pockets and no knowledge of radio.
So he was at an event that featured Donald Trump, and thought that Conservative News/Talk might be a viable format. Another format for a station that has flipped formats several times over the years. That's what I understood, not that he had a one-on-one meeting with The Donald and was pursuaded to go in that direction. The post you're referencing clearly states that the event was an "...opportunity (that) ties into an upcoming business move...". He even has a hat made prior to the event.
Why can't you allow yourself to just say you made a mistake and be done?
No one has been wondering.
Nope. He's claiming he isn't doing this for the money. He actually compared it to KPFT.So he was at an event that featured Donald Trump, and thought that Conservative News/Talk might be a viable format.
An opinion presented as a fact isn't a mistake? Nevermind that you called this a "meeting" when you know no reasonable person would call it that...but I digress.Because it wasn't a mistake.
An opinion presented as a fact isn't a mistake?
You did. You even presented Matt's financial expectations as fact.I didn't present it as fact.
I haven't said I did. That's the difference. You have no idea what LMN plans to do with their stations.
Propaganda in a relative matter. What I perceive to be (or potentially be) propaganda may not be propaganda for you. I've also called conservative talk propaganda in the past. But that's neither here nor there. But you've already called it "propaganda." Opinion as fact.
You did. You even presented Matt's financial expectations as fact.
Wouldn't it be easier to just admit your post was an opinion and not a fact
But KPFT isn't a Conservative News/Talk station. Far from it. And the only ones who became rich from KPFT was the recepient of the Lovett property sale.Nope. He's claiming he isn't doing this for the money. He actually compared it to KPFT.
NAB is protecting the investments of members, which is its job. As long as AM owners want to keep the stations they have, and as long as they are on the air the NAB will defend them. There are about 4490 AM stations on the air or licensed to be on the air right now. Only a couple of dozen a year sign off permanently, meaning the owners still want them.Yet the NAB is pushing hard to keep AM alive with those "PSAs" member stations play. I've heard them on standalone FMs, which is ridiculous!
Of course they're going to look after their members, even if that segment of the industry is on decline. How many of the nearly 4500 U.S. AM stations are making good money though?NAB is protecting the investments of members, which is its job.
