New country outlet coming up "The River"....

Slicing the country ratings pie that much thinner as Clear Channel is reportedly flipping AAA The River KXRV 105.7 sometime this week or next to MyCountry 105.7. The website is built and found at http://mycountry1057.com/main.html

Who knows maybe a CC red herring... I can't imagine another country outlet in this area.

KUBL 93.3 Citadel
KEGA 101.5 Simmons Media
KSOP 104.3 KSOP, inc.
KKAT 107.5 Citadel (Classic Country)

Plus a couple AM classic country outlets.

Interesting to see what happens...
Your thoughts??

Just what SLC/Ogden/Provo does not need!!

The River changed to MyCountry 105.7 this morning at midnight Mountain Daylight Time. I have yet to listen but am hearing that it follows the automated pattern of backselling each song as sister-station My99.5, playing a Hot-AC/Alternative format. Once I get either a stream or out to my car, I will verify this and let you all know.

I am a big country music fan and love all this variety, but how much is too much?

Some are still hanging onto the idea of a stunt and a change to something else. I don't know though... The SLC market is very strange and has so many stations! You never know what's going on in people's minds.

The RIVER was the most stupid name for a radio station in Salt Lake City---THERE IS NO RIVER there! The little Jordan river there is more like a smelly creek for predators that needs to be flushed. Glad it changed.

There's something that tells me the -MY- structure of always a backsell isn't a bad idea. It's what listeners have been telling us for years and the way MY does it is sounds pretty good. I think a country station following the MY backsell formula would be much more successful than that stupid RIVER. What Utard- ****** manager heard the real RIVER and thought it would work in SLC?

As far as the Utah radio pro board you mentioned. It's lame- very lame. Always the same 2-3 people having to have the last word. The moderators are too anal and seem to have have strict up tight outdated religion-based guidelines. I've seen idiot questions and comments from many clueless wannabees who think the major stations are doing something wrong (some are, but hey, they have the numbers)and then worship the bottom feeder stations with 2-5 listeners.
