NEW COUNTRY STATION COMING??

Rumor that somebody is going to sign on a 2nd Country station to go after Kix 106? Anyone know about this?

101.9 is about ready to light up from the old 101.1 tower.

The tower and city grade signal is on the wrong side of town for the format though.

Thinking about some other stations that have been tried and failed in this town makes me wonder if radio people know how to read maps and understand demographics?

Couldn't about anything do better than FM100? Streamed them the other day and was not impressed. I think Entercom could certainly do more with country...

The ratings for 94.1 don't look impressive either, though...

While I tend to agree with you that FM 100 isn't overly impressive, I heard a couple of years ago that it was a top-3 biller in the market among "non ethnic" targeted stations. Of course, that was before Prestigiacomo, 1/3 of the morning show, and the night show were let go. So, it's possible that could have changed. However, I still don't think it's likely you'll see Entercom toast FM 100.

Memphis should be going PPM very shortly, and PPM has been very good to hot AC formats. WTMX in Chicago has seen some of its best ratings in years since PPM went live, and KYKY in St. Louis saw its audience grow 300%. Houston, Boston and Detroit have also seen good results for hot AC.

Somebody should go after KIX 106. Shows are ok but not spectacular. It would be nice to have a clear choice with a great signal.

FM 100 seems like the obvious choice, because their ratings are dismal, but I not so sure.

Any more thoughts on a 2nd country?

How about a country classics station?

Oh my word! I can't believe how most of the people on this thread are assuming that rumors of a second Country are true. A month ago there was a thread devoted to a second Top-40 that was 'about to launch'. At this point I have to ask for some sort of factual basis for this rumor or else I have to assume this is someone just trying to start something.

Phil I'd have to say they are since the poster registered an account simply to post that.

I've heard Drake and Zeke have been courted by a Cincinnati media group and that there might be a new Soft Jazz station coming to a Flynn signal.

No, No…you have it wrong. Drake and Zeke are being courted a secret MEETING in Cincy to HOST the new Jazz Signal on a Flinn station.

Jeez, I have to correct everything around here.
