Idea for the Rebel--

Whyte Family reunion (Bill and Jackie) 6-10
Pistol Pete 10-3
Duke 3-7

UBE is playing LOTS of new unfamiliar (is the new PD getting free trips home to the great white north) songs

B105 cannot cover northern Butler and Warren.

Could we finally have a country battle--- probably not. Mr Branden does not have the 'nads to do it. Does someone else??

Braden would have to sell the station for sure. They can barely operate 104.1 in the black...

Good luck wth that. LOL

Can anyone say "non-compete"? Plus going after WUBE 45+ is not intelligent or dollar smart.

What battle? The Cincy Arbs reach into areas the Rebel can't, northern kentucky.

The Star competed well in this area. to say it's never been tried is stupid. Star would have killed B if given the chance on the 94.9 frequency. B should thank their loving stars it didn't happen. They weren't ready for that fight and they weren't until their latest moves.

Anyone at the old Mix regretting a move to country and hiring the Star staff didn't happen? They may go country now but with who? You can't recreate gold, and that what Star had. Talented people who spoke to the listeners regardless of the format. Great radio that happened to play country is how I hear it described.

On any given day I can pick up 7 country stations on the dial. Do we really need another one? I dont think so. It just the same old songs on every station being played over and over. There are more are more formats out thier that are not in this area that could be used instead of another country station.

On any given day, I can pick up too many country stations to count. But the ONLY ones that matter are the ones that every listener who gets a rating book in a particular market can hear on their walkman everywhere they go including the basement of the office building where they work. After adding those filters to the number, the list is down considerably. Rebel fails that test across the board...94.1 passes ar least as well as B does. If someone is going to take on B, Mix is the obvious choice. CC took on the heritage country station in Lexington & won. The other station is still around & has rebounded--the Bear in Lexington is a pleasure to listen to now. CC's "Bull" was built on lies (98 minute Bull Rides that were actually 75-89 minutes from my own timing) but the listeners bought it & CC won. I'm not at all sure why they haven't used that tact in the Queen City.

Doesn't Clear Channnel have to sell 2 stations in the market to satisfy the FCC? I thought they were looking to sell 92.5 and 94.1? I don't think they are going to try country on 94.1. With 97.3 increasing to 25kw soon I think that will make them stronger in office buildings and Walkman radios.

The 97.3 upgrade isn't going to happen. Bonneville is trying again with some new engineering. This may also be why WOXY is not moving to Mason...Think about it....

but also 97,3 is being a flanker to b105 by booneville no matter if they get a power boost or not the Wolf will never be a factor as long as it is a sister station to B105

97.3 was never envisioned as a competitor to other radio stations. It is simply a protector to B105. It is programmed in such a way (at least musically) to attract the country listeners would like an alternative to B105. Indeed, with a more powerful signal, 97.3 will still be a flanker. That's why Bonneville owns it. However, it will be a better protector to B105 and will pull in even more country shares than it is currently.

Bonneville won't get rid of their flanker. They did that in St. Louis and Clear Channel flipped to the Bull immediately.

Originally B105 and Y96 long before it became the Star before even the wolf both were sister stations prior to the AM/FM Clear channel merger. At that point they goto Seperated in dieffent sells of B105 to Infinity and Y96 to Salem. then Salem sold 96.5 to What is now Cumulus which then moved it to 94.9 and plans were to make it a competitor to B. but Entercom sold WGRR to Cumulus for Star and took what is now the Wolf back to being a flanker.

Thank you for that less than insightful view. Mr. Mozingo talk to you HereInCincy? I didn't think you were old enough to remember that happening. The difference is as much as WIL is like UBE, The Bull is nothing like Star was. They are trying to beat the heritage station by playing different music. That doesn't work...EVER! As much as corporate America hates to admit it, it's what plays between the music that matters the most and Star had that advantage here in Cincy. Note to Billy Greenwood...og that's right, it's a CC station and they're in a holding pattern...which seems like business as usual for them the last xxx years.

Ah, the lessons they could learn from others....but that's right, they have the "We play commercials first. Everything else in between is just filler" posters in their offices. My bad!

The Star wasn't even a part of my point. The Star WAS a competitor to B105 and other stations. The Wolf is not. The Wolf can play completely different music from B105 because they are owned by the same company. The whole point is to not step on one another's toes.

I know the purpose of a flanker. I guess what I don't get is the fear of a little healthy competition in the building. Bring the 97.3 numbers up a bit, make a few more bucks there, B continues to be the cash cow...The Church wins. In the end they may push some of those egos out and get back to some good radio. Save you, HereInCincy. Your work is solid.
