New CP Granted for North NJ Station

nd2023

Banned
The FCC has recently granted a Construction Permit to Greater Media for a new Class A FM station in New Jersey. It will be at 102.3 FM from Edison, NJ and it will run 1200 watts from a 600 foot tower. What format do you think will be on that station?<P ID="signature">______________

That was an April Fool's, but there really is an application for 102.3 licensed to Edison. It's for a translator for WDDM (ex WCNJ). There are a small army of other applications all over the area too.

WDDM translator is for 100.7 not 102.3. I know because I'm the contract engineer for the station. It will be located on Talmage road behind the Pines and will be directional to South Edison with a ERP of 30 watts. Mercer County Community College will be on it. Why the FCC picked that freq. I don't know 100.7 WHUD is very strong along with WFMZ in Edison on that freq.

I assume you're talking about W264BT. That's the only one that's been approved, but there are apps in for 92.7, 93.5, 96.7, 103.9 and 107.9 as well as 102.3. The listed ERP for 100.7 is only 8 watts, the lowest of all the listings.

I don't know where you got your data from, but according to the FCC database, the only CPs on 680 are for NS in Canada, and LaPaz Bolivia. Maybe the FCC database is wrong. I'll check with Norm at the FCC on Monday.
