New Dance/party format (Seattle/L.A./St. Louis)

Well, it looks like there is hope for some stations and dance in the states with the new MOVIN format. Seattle Movin925, L.A. Movin939, and next up St. Louis (flip anyday) Movin1011 .
This new format is strong and heavy on 80's, 90's and today dance hits. They also mix in party hits and VERY LITTLE rap. It is almost a perfect combination of music for many cities. Note to that all three Movin FM's are not owned by the same company, which in turn is a good thing... more variety!

AS one poster put it, ARB is listing them as Rhythmic AC, and are utterly confused on what to mark this format as. This format is fun, fresh and alive. Much more dancy than the Diva Format or the old Boston Star FM.
Good deal.

Hope????

Have you listen to these 2 stations? The LA movin doesn't play today's dance hits.

You tell me what Summer 2006 dance songs they are playing.

I take it YOU like Classic dance comparing these to the better Diva station but don't be confusing these with Dance Radio.

Good grief, don't get your panties all wadded up my friend. I said they are the next best thing and some hope for dance in the US.
They sound peppy and I, for one, am sick of the CHR rap stations in this country.

Obviously you like DIVA, and this format is covering the same demos. KTU doesn't play much different anymore either.

I said Todays dance hits. They are playing Kristine W, Kylie Minogue, and several others... maybe not 06 dance hits.

Play nice. My first post never said they are Dance Hits (like Energy stations). You're posts are a little scary and mean my friend.

I'm sorry and I don't mean to sound bitter but these stations are AC stations with a beat.
They play nothing that LITE FM in New York doesn't play.

They are Rhythmic ac stations and while they may be better than nothing, although that too is to be debated, they are NOT dance stations!

I don't why your excited about the "next best thing". Its your posts that are alittle scary. People like you jumping up and down like this is a good thing. They are only AC stations with the most familiar beats that even your Grandma would recognize. Wow. And its this stupid unproven trend that took WKTU backwards instead of forward by following the predictable Movin' format of disco and oldies mixed with R&B.

anyway this has nothing to do with helping Dance music. Therefore don't belong on a DANCE message board but a AC Message board! :p

I was in STL over the weekend and heard many hours of "Movin'". I don't like it. The whole "music that makes you feel good" is silly. It's balance of "current" (I use that term loosely) to "classic" was decent, but they're not touching any song that wasn't extremely overplayed during it's charting days.

They're definately looking for middle age white women to listen to this at work. Best of luck to them. My 2 days of it was more than enough.

AGreed 100%. I listened to it for an excrutiating hour last week online (because the 1st track played was Daft Punk). After that it was a rehash of a bunch of bad female-leaning pop hits that have come out in the last 15 years.

Blah.

Its an AWESOME station! We have our own MOVIN here in LA and I listen to the STL one all day at work. Ive been listening to Movin since it premiered in Seattle and I love it!

If you're a fan of cutting edge dance music you'll hate these stations... if you're a fan of upbeat music with a bit of variety these stations will be HUGE!
