Here’s a new DFW FM/HD bandscan. This time from Arlington, near I-20 and S Cooper St. I wanted to get another bandscan in before 93.3’s format flip. Enjoy!
I've been watching a lot of those "band scan" videos the last few weeks. Thank you for putting a cross street or at least general area of where it was taken. Here’s a new DFW FM/HD bandscan. Of course and thanks for watching! I’m trying to be as detailed as I can. My videos aren’t perfect by any means, but there’s a lot of bad bandscan videos out there in my opinion. When I watch others, I like to see the station logos, text, etc…but a lot of people don’t bother to let them load. When I do a bandscan in a market outside DFW, I try to let the HD station logos archive to my radio before I do the bandscan. That way they pop up…or at least most of them do.I've been watching a lot of those "band scan" videos the last few weeks. It seems like such an obvious thing for someone who would have interest in these types of videos, but nearly all of them don't put a specific location in the description.
I would guess it will be at least for the foreseeable future. So I wonder if WBAP will still be on 99.5 HD2 after today...
yeah, i can see 99.5 HD2 staying cause the station isn't reached in places like where i live, which is Hunt County as we are on the fringes of the DFW radio & TV market and we have a hard time picking up reception without needed a long range antenna or a booster and get the stations mostly based out of Cedar Hill. but not the stations farther away from Cedar Hill to the west and only the stations closest to the area.I would guess it will be at least for the foreseeable future.
Unfortunately, I really don’t think there is a lot. Probably the only manufacturer that is somewhat keeping up to date on HD Radio technology is Sangean. They recently updated their HDR-14 and HDR-16 radios to display long station names. 92.5, 94.5 and 98.7 all have long station names in DFW and my car radio can’t support that, which is why the station names are blank in my bandscan.A little off topic, but since the OP's radio stopped on so many HD stations, anyone know of model numbers for home AV receivers with HD Radio? Newer models, HD Radio seems to be nonexistent. I've seen a few older Denons on ebay all seem to be 2009-2010 vintage. There will be an "HD Radio" logo printed on the back panel next to the FM antenna connector on those. Would be nice if there was an accurate list of such receivers.
Thanks for the info. I have an HDT-1X and it works fine through the digital output but the analog L R outputs has a problem. One of the channels is way louder than the other and distorted. So I can't use it unless I have a digital input to plug it into and my 40 year old stereo amplifier doesn't have that. Some weird factory defect I didn't realize until it was well out of warranty. Did some looking at a schematic and the analog audio comes straight out of an IC so that's probably where the problem is. Had been using it with a Pioneer AV receiver into a digital input for several years before the Pioneer failed to turn on one day. I have an HDT-14 and a 16, thinking they must be the updated ones you mention because they display a long scrolling title on stations, also both have expanded memory of 20 channels which was an update to older ones. A few of the Denon receivers I am on the lookout for are AVR 4310 and AVR 3310. 3311, 1911. Those, maybe a few more, had built-in HD Radio. Too bad the HD licensing folks (Ibiquity at the time, now DTS) never compiled a list I can find of all AV receivers with HD Radio. I'll keep watching ebay for a deal on one.Unfortunately, I really don’t think there is a lot. Probably the only manufacturer that is somewhat keeping up to date on HD Radio technology is Sangean. I think the home receiver you might be searching for is Sangean’s HDT-20. I have the older HDT-1X and it still works well.
Here’s a link to Sangean’s HD Radio lineup:

This is wonderful. Thanks! By the way I noticed 104.9 was off the air. Are they still off? Here’s a new DFW FM/HD bandscan. This time from Arlington, near I-20 and S Cooper St. I wanted to get another bandscan in before 93.3’s format flip. Enjoy!
iHeart and Audacy use to use App "stations" as programming for HD2+ channels. That doesn't happen in large anymore.Aren't most of the HD Radio Stations embedded in apps now like iHeart/Audcity/Tune-In?
Most of the HD Radio sub channels stream, but there are some that don’t. I don’t think iHeart streams 102.1 HD2 with its current “Magic” format (same as Miami’s 93.9) and I don’t think they streamed the previous “102.1 HD2 The Edge” format. There might be others, but that’s all that comes to mind.Aren't most of the HD Radio Stations embedded in apps now like iHeart/Audcity/Tune-In?
If you’re referring to 104.9 KZMP, it was on the air, but I kept moving my car to try to get the most amount of HD signals. It was 3 a.m. and I didn’t want to keep moving my car, as I’ve had police pull up into a parking lot before while I was recording a bandscan. I wasn’t really worried about getting in trouble, but I didn’t want to get 10 minutes in and have to move my car and restart the bandscan elsewhere. This is wonderful. Thanks! Since you did this in Arlington, I noticed you picked up BIN instead of us on 95.3. We get a lot of complaints about the interference they cause with our signal...Lots of listener confusion too. Here’s a new DFW FM/HD bandscan. Chuck have you driven your signal in Arlington? I know it's pretty strong up in Southlake/Grapevine but below I30 Im guessing it just isn't viable. Love the station - listening online from San Antonio.Since you did this in Arlington, I noticed you picked up BIN instead of us on 95.3. Robert, as Matt stated, I live in Keller, so I'm very familiar with the signal. We actually had better coverage in Keller and even to downtown Ft. Worth before BIN came on the air a few years back. It even caused some problems where listeners were complaining that I was getting too political on the air. I NEVER talk politics on the air, they were hearing BIN and for some reason thinking they were hearing me. Just goes to show that listeners don't pay as much attention to what we say and sound like as we'd like to think.Chuck have you driven your signal in Arlington? Well, the recent call letter change from KLIF-FM to WBAP-FM answered my question.....I wonder if they will eventually change the call letters on KLIF-FM to WBAP-FM? Or could they with a "W" call? I don't know the rules now....
