New Disclaimer

Does anyone know the reason that some stations have recently removed their disclaimer about “opinions express by the host are purely their own and do not represent the station” and replaced it with “the following program might have been prerecorded”?

I have not been able to find any court case or FCC ruling about this but several of the stations that I listen to have done this.

Thanks for any information that you can provide on this issue.

Salem got fined for passing off pre-recorded broadcasts as live:

I don't think the not-live disclaimer replaced the one about opinions voiced by hosts. I would think the latter still has to air occasionally, especially on talk stations.

Salem getting nailed woke a lot of stations up to the fact they have been in violation of the rule, but nobody expected the FCC to do anything about it.... When the FCC gets a complaint they can no longer turn a blind eye.

Same thing with paid programming and not having the sponsors of commercials clearly and easily identifiable.

All it takes is one disgruntled listener, competitor or former employee to drop a dime and then the fun starts.
