New DSPX-FM and DSPXtra-FM software

We've made minor upgrades to DSPX-FM and DSPXtra-FM. New versions are available at www.bwbroadcast.com

A new feature is a pilot protection filter, which will protect pilot region in case of aggressive use of composite clipping. There are also changes in the multiband and main clippers to reduce distortion.

After the upgrade, if you turn the pilot protection filter on, depending on the amount of composite clipping you are using you might need to re-adjust the MPX output level slightly. Also, you might want to re-adjust the multiband clipping thresholds from what they were, as they operate somewhat differently now.

Hi,
Late in this evening I have done the update for the DSPX FM and it seems like it's better sound. I haven't changed the preset, or the settings. More bass? The pilot protection is at default (off). Does this function protect the RDS carrier also?

I will listen to some more hours we broadcast to hear the overall sound. Thanks for the update!

The RDS region has always been more than sufficiently protected in our processors. The pilot protection is an optional filter to use if you are using composite clipping. However, even if you're not using composite clipping, you can turn the protection on. It might slightly improve stereo decoding in fringe areas, depending on the receiver.
