New Edge Morning Show?

UGH ,, I was actually enjoying hearing music in the morning on the edge

great...when this fails the "lil radio signals that can't" (riviera)...will blame cbs again.

the definition of insanity...

Remember back when The Edge was "Independent Radio"? Not saying that worked for them but it was pretty cool. The current plan is "opposite."

It also seems odd that the Edge wouldn't have something on their site teasing this, considering it's less than two weeks away. ???

What is the current format of the Kevin and Bean morning show? Is it all talk? Or do they mix in music as well? We don't need another Adam Carolla/Johnjay And Rich type show with no music.

another all talk show on the edge. great. maybe we will hear music in the place of commercial space that goes unsold...?

Kevin and Bean have been playing Alternative Music during their show for years.....almost two decades.

Who in their right mind makes this decision? play music in ppm???? or 2 throw dudes who took 8 years to find any success in LA?????

riviera is swirling the bowl as we speak...

I really wish they would re brand the Edge - I would do a history of alternative music over the past thirty years. Maybe do a year for everyday. Then go back to the roots of alternative, become a mix of new alternative and classic alternative. Focus on the music and go back to what real alternative music fans want.

Exactly, I am all for personality radio hell i was one of the few free fm fans LOL but the Edge needs to get back to alternative rock radio and should focus on the history of alternative music and trust me, once the audience sees they are focused on the music, less talking, the ratings will come.

Totally agreed - they need to go back to their roots. They need to be what 94.7 is in Portland, what 94.9 is in San Diego - An alt. rock station that pefectly fits the area, just as they were in the early 00's: A mix of everything; punk, acoustic stuff, female bands, ska, 90s tracks, new rock, you name it.

I'm wondering when program directors/general managers will realize that PHOENIX IS NOT LOS ANGELES. Time and time again these LA based programs are imported to the valley and inevitably they fail miserably. Free-FM/Tom Leykis, Frosty Heidi and Frank/Adam Carolla: Disaster, the reincarnation of Adam Carolla: Slightly less of a disaster but still not exactly a winner, Rick Dees: Disaster, Ryan Seacrest... enough said.

Now, here's a totally EDGY idea for the Edge: Create original programming and brand your station so that it actually has a direction/identity. I realize that the deck is stacked against them in many ways, not the least of their problems being a relatively crap signal. It just seems that the programming department at the Edge can't find their ass with two hands and a flashlight.

The format of the show currently is this (for example):
6:30- Traffic Report
6:31- Song
6:35- Talk/Comedy Bit
6:43- Commercial

LISTEN TO THAT OVER AND OVER AGAIN AND YOU GET KEVIN AND BEAN...

So I just read that the Kevin and Bean show is going national with westwood one. So westwood dumped Carolla and then get Kevin and Bean. For westwood, is this a simple cost cutting move or????

Given the relationship between CBS and WW1, I'm guessing the latter is simply doing the grunt work for the former, that it isn't so much WW1 doing the syndicating as just distributing and selling time for K&B while their show remains a CBS property -- meaning it's not merely a cost-cutting move in shedding Carolla's deal, but it also allows CBS the opportunity to make big money (K&B having the potential to be --and, among certain segments of the population, already being -- a national alt brand name) off an existing local contract.

Granted, it's a "local contract" for a high-earning show in the number-two market that was negotiated just before ad buys nosedived, but it's still a deal CBS can -- and here's that word again -- potentially leverage big-time.
