New English-language diginet should hit Phx and Tuc Univision stations this fall

http://www.tvnewscheck.com/article/66984/sony-pictures-tv-to-launch-movies-diginet

Univision owns stations in 25 markets, including Phoenix and Tucson, and plans to add getTV movies diginet to 24 of their stations. With bandwidth available in both Phoenix and Tucson, odds should be really good for getting the new subchannel, which will air movies from the Sony library.

So, will it be on KTVW-DT or on KFPH-CD? Not sure, but I'm hoping for KTVW. Even though I'm 6 miles east of the South Mtn. towers, I am not able to receive KFPH for much of the day, especially during the evening.

Univision also owns KUVE-DT and KFTU-CD in Tucson, airing Univision and Unimas, respectively, plus an SD simulcast of the other on the .2 subchannel. Same question there.

Also, assuming both markets get the new channel, will Univision also provide it to Flagstaff and Douglas?

I think it's a smart move by Univision to make a play for the English-language market. Now if they'd only put English-language audio on SAP.

The GetTV article on Wikipedia (citiation needed ;D) says that it will be on KFPH-CD 35.2, but don't always trust Wikipedia. I would also like to see it on KTVW-DT 33.3 - well, I guess I can contact them and let them know where to place it.

Wikipedia took it from my site. I'm making the assumption that Univision is more likely to put it on the TeleFutura stations than the Univision stations, as they did with Bounce in the markets where they added that network.

Very little question that it will be in the market though, since they announced it will be in 24 of 25 markets where Univision owns stations. I'm guessing the odd man out is probably WUVC in Raleigh since it's already got two SD subchannels.

While I'm hoping KTVW gets the movie sub, I also think it's going on KFPH, believing that Univision still wants the SD Unimas simulcast on 33.2. KFPH has more bandwidth available.

It's not without precedent that Univision stations have two SD subchannels, but it's typically been in places where they have single channels and are airing Univision, Unimas, and Bounce. Univision has also expressed interest in Mobile DTV which would work better on the full-power signal and Phoenix is a market that would likely be high on Univision's list.
