New Episode Graphics Next To Network Logo

TBS started the graphic that is on during the whole entire show, correct me if Im wrong. Now I see other networks doing it. Here are the ones I found; FX, Bravo, TNT, Sci-Fi, ABC Family. And maybe E! Network, but they just leave the name of the show thats on. So I wouldn't call that the same, so thats fine. Do we really need this. The network logo is just fine in the bottom right or left we don't need transparent font too for a new show this fall, etc. Im glad I don't see USA Network doing it but I wonder why sister network Bravo and Sci-Fi are. USA Network is top rated and always comes out #1 so maybe that has something to do with it. I rather just see networks just show the small graphic coming back into the show. Thats just fine with me.

I've notice it too. This is one of the reasons why I avoid watching cable tv as much as possible, especially channels like TNT and TBS. Apparently, cable tv executives could care less about the viewers and instead do annoying practices like putting transparent promo bug right next to the usual network bug all throughout the show. I don't see how this will bring in new viewers if you're just going to keep annoying them again and again.

I think the worst is FX. Every time the Damages promo graphic slides in, not only is there this annoying graphic distracting you in the lower right corner, but it has audio, too. I always think something's breaking in the program I'm watching!

Has anything topped that major pop-up on TBS with Bill Engvall which got mentioned some time back?

I never saw it. Did you? Anyway I can't believe TBS, etc thinks that they're viewer's are so stupid that they wouldn't know when the next episode of their favorite show is gonna be on.

My Boys - Never Checked it out. Doesn't interest Me.

Bill Engval Show - Never Checked it Out.

House of Paynes - Watched it twice. Biggest waste of 2 hours on a Wednesday night in my life even tho I spend all my nights chatting online with friends.

The single most annoying development in network logo bugs is the moving promos with sfx.

I realize they are attempting to make TV more 'computer friendly' with the appearance of flashing and zooming graphics, but please! I watched a downloaded show from cbs.com today and not only did it not have logos -- it had REAL END CREDITS!

When do TVs get pop-up blockers? The computer has them. ;D

Yeah, I'm sure TiVO will develop it, we'll all buy it, and thne somebody will promptly sue TiVO for interfering with broadcast property, then we'll all have to return the things, or get fined, etc etc... :-\

I remember the first time when this all started. All cable networks did first was when they came back from commerical was to put the name of the show title near the logo then remove it after 5 seconds or so. Same with the broadcast networks. CBS, NBC, ABC, FOX aren't bad like the cable networks. They show the name of the show when coming back out of commerical and just whats coming up next. Which is ok. I don't mind how CBS does it or NBC.

Speaking of CBS, is there something in their contract with "The Price Is Right"? When they come out of commercial, I NEVER see CBS putting any kind of promos or ads up for any of their other shows. If anything, they leave it black with the CBS eye for about 2 seconds, perhaps making it easier for somebody who may be videotaping/recording the show for their archives?

it's really annoying to not be able to watch the whole show without some pop-up's during the show and after the show. i beginning to watch some tv programs on dvd's where thier is no pop ups, network logos, local ch. logo

I have to agree with most of the above posters. The pop-up ads with movement and sound are the most annoying thing EVER created for TV! They show a lack of respect for the show and for the viewer. All they seem to care about is what's next - not what's happening now. It's push, push, push and promote, promote, promote the next show and the next and the next. And, when you watch that, they'll pop in with something about another show. The whole thing shows a lack of respect (I know, I said it above).

Honestly, while (attempting to) watch TBS, TNT or FX, I get the impression that these networks have ADD. Perhaps the idiots who are involved with programming and promotion need some Ritalin.

They did put up promos on the Primetime replay of Bob Barker's final show (along with the Primetime specials.)

Do they ever use promos or ads on other CBS Daytime shows (soaps?)

If they do...then I suspect that they kept The Price is Right immune for the same reason that the show's set was generally left alone over the course of Barker's run. They didn't want to alienate viewers by introducing something dramatically different (or, in the case of promos/ads, something distracting.)

But I expect all of that to be thrown out the window now that we are in the Drew Carey era. A visit to the forums on golden-road.net indicates that the show's set has been completely redesigned (although still recognizable as The Price is Right). I wouldn't be surprised if CBS starts inserting promos/ads during the show.

In my opinion, the reason why there were no visual distractions on the screen (other than the CBS eye or the occasional Special Report) was that Canadian stations, such as the CH system, carried TPIR straight off of CBS's main broadcast feed, instead of an advance clean feed. If CBS started insterting distractions on TPIR, the show's Canadian affiliates will find themselves up in arms about it.

I don't get or watch channels like HBO or Showtime. So I'm wondering if those kind of channels have pop-up graphics like the rest of the cable channels?

The only time I don't see any pop-up graphics, other than the network logo, is Cartoon Network's adult swim block. I wonder why that is, even though during the day Cartoon Network has that awful red banner ,similar to TNT's, pop up on the screen. I suppose I should be glad, instead of wondering about it.

Last I saw, HBO did not do that type of advertising during a movie or on one of their original series. After all, aren't you paying for the channel already?
