New Fios channels and changes in comcast

Fios is chaning their lineup a bit with new channels in August.

Comcast is also doing some channel changes

CN8 goes to 188
TruTV goes to 186
Hallmark will be on 208 only.
MSNBC moves to 251

and there will be no religious programming on channel 56.

I wish we had Fios here in Connecticut - at least for those of us who want internet. Comcast internet is the pits ... then again, so is there TV offerings, too.

Isn't AT&T's UVerse similar to FIOS? I know it's rolling out, but not yet available in my area. The lineup looks pretty good and the rates look reasonable. Comcast definitely needs competition, their charges are criminal.

Will FiOS be adding the Providence channels in areas not IN the Providence market, but close to it, like Comcast does?

I have RCN in my town which has the same Fios system as Verizon but at about $50.00 cheaper than both Verizon or Comcast.
As to "Concast", they will rip you off at every turn. Go to the www.comcastmustdie.com website for more exposes on Comcast.

I assume those changes are only in certain areas. Does Comcast have a standard channel lineup for all of their systems in a region? We have Comcast here in Londonderry, NH, but we used to have Adelphia, so the channel lineup's radically different from the Comcast systems in neighboring towns.

The digital lineup is the same everywhere, except in former Adelphia towns in both Massachusetts and Southern New Hampshire. However, I'm sure that will eventually be changed. As for all other areas, the digital lineup is the same, but not the analog. Most of it is the same, but some are not. CN8 is on channel 3 in most areas. However, the channels that will be moving to digital are actually the ones that aren't always in the same place. We didn't get MSNBC at all until about 2002 or so, if you can believe it.

I was actually referring to the analog lineups in the neighboring towns. :) For example, NECN is on channel 19 here but channel 10 in Manchester, Hooksett and, I think, Derry (which were never Adelphia towns).

Comcast for New Britain, staring on Wednesday the 16th:

CN-8 goes from channel 3 to 188.
NECN goes from channel 24 to 177.
Leased Access goes from channel 96 to 190.
TruTV goes from channel 37 to 182.
Hallmark goes from channel 38 to 137.
TV Guide goes from channel 72 to 100.
The Weather Channel goes from channel 26 to 98.
SNY goes from channel 98 to 26.

If Comcast thinks I'm going to add a digital converter for two rooms, they're f---ing crazy! I already pay $62 or so a month now.

It was never on channel 8 in New Britain. Ever. That's where they put WTNH-TV.

You miss my point. I've yet to see it on channel 8 anywhere. (For example, it's channel 18 or 17 here and channel 3 in neighboring towns.)

Sorry about that! I've never like stations which identify with their cable indentifier. Case in point? WCTX-TV calling themselves "MY 9". Ugh! :(

They actually call themselves MY TV 9. Big difference! :) Of course I'm being sarcastic, I can't believe Fox (WOR's owner) allows WCTX to keep this silly branding.

In Hamden, CN-8 actually used to be on channel 8. WTNH was on 7 as it is here in Branford.

My question is, does anyone even watch CN-8 in New England? Do they need to waste money (and ours) on this waste of bandwidth. In Philadelphia, CN-8 actually broadcasts Phillies games, I believe. I wish they's show them here.

At this point, Verizon's lineup for Greater Boston doesn't give you anything out of Providence - though I don't think they're in towns like Attleboro and Plainville where those channels would be expected. The current lineup does give you a lot out of New Hampshire, though - in addition to the expected WZMY-50 and WNEU-60, you also get WMUR-9.

I saw a map at The Natick Collection of all areas that have FiOS TV, and I think they are in a few areas down near Rhode Island. I'm pretty sure Taunton was listed, and it's actually in the Providence market. I think Wareham was also on the list.

Who knows? In fact Comcast just placed CN-8 on digital channel 188. Seeing as it's their station, you'd think they'd keep it on the analog tier so as many people as possible could see it? Even NECN was moved from cable 24 up to digital cable 177. Comcast is the half-owner of that station, if I'm not mistaken. (These channel changes are with the New Britain/Plainville area of Connecticut.)

I would watch NECN once in a while since they would air a story about Maine every so often. Speaking of Maine, how many areas of that state have Comcast?
