New Fm 97 Morning Show Under Fire

Another case where an out of town owner has no clue about the local market. There's no way this show was ever going to fly in Lancaster. I applaud the local advertisers who are pulling their spots, listeners who are flying to the Rose in droves. The freefall has begun. The only way to get the attention of CC is to hit them where it hurts...
 
What? An out of town owner having no clue as to what the local listeners want? Did you not know that Clear Channel and Cumulus know all. The truth is these people do not recognize the tastes and values of ANY local area or region. They want to create McRadio....that is radio that is the same cookie cutter formula nationwide. The problem is....the public outcry falls on deaf ears and eventually the public gives up.....gets Sirius/XM....and an IPOD. The only way these radio execs will listen is when the advertisers all pull out. The regional market manager may not like what he's hearing either...but he has to follow the directives of people like John Hogan and Bob Pittman. Radio is driving listeners away in droves. I am so sad to see an industry many of us have loved and poured alot of hard work and dedication into go down the tubes because of a bunch of bean counters who have no soul.

Mitt Romney hasn't been involved with Bain for years. Let's keep the politics off this board. If you want to rip the current Bain Capital who has helped destroy radio with some willing partners....Dickey and the bozos in Texas come to mind..fine.
 
I've listened to morning shows for probably 45 years now. I can say this morning when I decided to listen to Elvis Duran that there was absolutely nothing funny from what I had heard. On a scale of 1 to 5, it was a 0. It seems like the others in the background have to force themselves to laugh at Elvis. At one point he was reading so called Valentines cards written by Republican candidates and a couple that Obama wrote....they were not funny, no matter who wrote them. I don't give this show very long life on local radio.
 
I wonder how much backlash it would take for the powers that be to make a change? I know one advertiser has pulled their spots from the show, but I think it would take a lot more before CC would call this a mistake.

I happen to be listening then also, there was times when the people in the background were laughing at absoulatley nothing, like they just have a laugh machine going nuts. There is nothing funny about this show, totally the WORSE morning show ever. Rose, "X" and all other morning shows have nothing to worry about with this bad decision from cheap channel, it will come back to bite them in the *ss.
 
I gave them a listen the first morning they were on, for about 25 minutes. I heard the tail end of a song, then about 23 minutes of nothing that I would call remotely amusing. I can't even recall what they were talking about, it was that unmemorable. There was lots of cackling and giggling going on though, about what I don't know. I had never heard this guy and his entourage and went into it with an open mind, but I finally switched it off. OK, I'm way out of their target demo, but I'm not surprised at the negative response. What plays in New York doesn't play in Paducah, Peoria, or Pennsylvania Dutch Country.

The Rose must be very happy. They just had a listener windfall without having to do anything at all.
 
I grew up listening to Elvis he's not bad. I don't think any of it was inappropriate I used to listen when I was little. It's fine. If anything other options for them could be: Dave & Jimmy, Ace & TJ, The Kane Show, Matty in the Morning. They basically want their station to sound like an A/C station or a Hot A/C station that's not happening. It's about time the station changed slightly-still it's sometimes kind of funny.
 
I think they should switch Elvis with Dave & Jimmy.

I'm no fan of D&J, but think they would play better in Lancaster. While they're at it, put Elvis on Kiss where it might work better.
