New FM, KNAN on-air

Interesting! I just happened to be listening to the new KVGQ when I wrote that post yesterday. Good station, but seriously why all the simulcasting? I can't even be sure you can just flip over to 99.3 once you lose 106.9 out of Vegas, and there's certainly no way to hit Honolulu.

There's no overlap.. not a chance.. have you looked at 106.9 and 99.3''s coverage area? It's way E/NE of Phoenix and you lose 106.9 before you even get to the state line.

Why?

Because they can, and a cheap way to operate.

It sure seems this thread has kind of died. What's the latest on this station? It looks like the station has been on the air with a Hot AC format since 2016, not sure if it's at the CP site mentioned earlier in this thread, but it looks like it might be. There's no web presence or stream for this thing.

Doesn't the Honolulu market already have a "Da Bomb" at 102.7?

So what is this station playing now? Can anyone confirm it's an exact simulcast of KVGQ in Las Vegas? There's absolutely nothing online current about it.

Yeah, this is a good question. Shouldn't the FCC get involved here? If this is a simulcast, there's no mention of it at all. You do have a top of hour mention of KEMP Pazen Phoenix, but nothing about KNAN. I am actually liking the new 90s and 2K format on KVGQ.

It is easy to insert the ID at the transmitter site and legally, thats all KNAN needs to do

This is true, I think that's what KIIS does. Does anyone have an aircheck of a station doing this? I've never heard it. Getting back to the topic at hand though, I'm also surprised Pacific Media Group hasn't taken legal action against Kemp over the use of the name.
