NEW FM RADIO STATION PLANNED FOR POWDERSVILLE

While I don't want another country station (one is more than enough for me), this is interesting.

Wonder how strong this station will be? Nonetheless, It will be interesting to see if it will cover the market, or at least part of it. If done like WGOG, it could take a little off of Clear Channel's country empire.

i agree that we do not need another country station. it was tried in 1995 on 93.3 and failed. i don't think gsp will support three country stations. i think a smooth jazz station could have an impact especially for at work listening

Its not a Greenville station, but 99.9 puts a solid signal in to the area also with their country format and has some listeners. It would be interesting though to see 15 years after 93.3's attempt if Mr. Sutton (who does good, local radio from what I've heard) could do anything to CC's country empire. I'm all for Smooth Jazz or even something like AAA, but I doubt there's enough interest to support that format.

How will this affect WPLS/95.9, Furman's station? I know they had to move once when 96.7 moved in to the market. I'm guessing this would be a C2 at the strongest.

i agree that mr sutton does good local radio. iam not sure that he could bring down 92.5 or 100.5 with a class a station. many years ago 103.9 out of easley was a good local class a station that covered easley and pickens. bucks scoreboard was when most people listened on friday nights after the games. it will be interesting to see what mr. sutton does. it is sad when local ownership programs their preference against what the market may adopt. years away though

To target Easley & Powdersville is to also forget something: Both are now bedroom communities of Greenville. Any "history" or "sense of self" either place may have had are long gone. This new station will have no choice to to compete against the established GSP stations & their large signals. I wish Art well, but he's gonna have to be thinking way outside of the box, and still turn a profit.

According to the FCC (and Radio-Locator, FWIW), WGOG is now operating at 105.5 under a CP.

96.3 is now listed as WRBN licensed to Clayton, GA.

Nothing here in Easley on 105.5. I am still getting WGOG on 96.3. I wonder how this will affect the W289AN Arial translator, currently on 105.7, but has a CP to move to 105.9 at 250 watts. Too close for comfort.

That's interesting. I think it is the WGOG license moving to 105.5 and WGOG as it is now will sign on at 95.9 as a new station, so maybe they just haven't changed the calls for the new station at 105.5 yet. I'm assuming the 96.3 calls have already changed given the FCC info. I don't see anything for 95.9 though at all, which is where WGOG is actually moving its programming I believe.

Confusing!

Yes, although I stay somewhat confused most of the time anyway, this move has been one of the more confusing ones given all of the frequency changes and COL changes necessary to pull this off. I am sure Art Sutton has it all figured out. However it ends up, I am certainly looking forward to a new station that will serve the Easley and Powdersville area. Mr. Sutton's stations are a pleasure to listen to with their high quality, community-oriented programming- something that is missing from the large corporate cookie-cutter stations that serve the area.

As of Sunday morning, WGOG was still at 96.3 and maybe Art will give us an idea on when the stations will change. WGOG not only sounds good, but they a good job within their community.
