NEW FM STATION: LOOKING FOR DJ'S

lovejamminoldies said:
We haven't filed for that yet. There are frequencies available. We are filing for a FCC license soon. The station is still in its building stages. All of that will be taken care of.

Available according to...? Trust me. There are no frequencies available near Northridge or Vandalia.

That search engine is for FM modulators to be used with mp3 players or sat radios, not to search for available full power or low power FM frequencies. A construction permit for an FM translator in Huber Heights, W268AX, appears to block any hope for using 101.5. A quick check shows no available frequency for Northridge. Your best bet is to contact a consulting engineer who can do an actual frequency search and confirm those results.

Thanks for your help. If we don't get 101.5, we're getting something, LOL.

Here's a name for you, Bill Spry, a really sharp guy who's already been through what you're hoping to do. E-mail him at [email protected] and tell him what you're wanting. I'm sure he'll have some candid insight for you. All the best.

I am a local radio broadcaster.

While I honestly wish anyone with a legitimate FCC application pending the best in their endeavors, let me state for the record...that the Federal Communications Commission's database says there is no such application pending for this frequency. Bill Spry tells us there is only one frequency available in the Dayton area...it's a translator frequency for an existing station and he holds the license.

With Richmond at 101.3 and Springfield at 101.7, there is no chance that you can obtain a freqency legally at any power level at 101.5.

There are no frequencies left in Dayton unless your intention is to be a radio pirate. And, if that's the case, rest assurred local licensed operators will turn you in to the FCC upon signing on the air.

Spry does not hold the license to any Dayton area translator that I'm aware of. I think he does have a CP for one in Butler County though.

Aside from Huber Heights, there are a couple other translator CP's in the Dayton area:
98.7 Riverside -- EMF (K-Love)
101.9 Fairborn -- Spirit Communications (Radio U/Columbus)
98.7 Springfield -- Spirit (see above)
also an MX group on 107.3 that includes Miami University, and a currently ungranted application on 106.7 by Clear Channel for a booster to WDSJ 106.5.

Bottom line though, is that there are no open frequencies for anything that is allowed to originate programming.
