New format in OKC being tested on the web?

I've seen some posts talking about a station out of Mustang
coming up and ran across some ad's on facebook touting a
new "metro" station that is on the web.

The music (most of it) is not being played on other stations
in town.

Think they could be testing the waters for 99.7? Normally
I wouldnt give it a second look but it does not sound like
a typical web station. It's pretty well produced.

Any thoughts?

I wish! I like it. But I got into radio in the 80's. Started with the college alternative station. Takes me back.

Me too. They have a fan page on Facebook and seep to be picking up momentum. I
did notice that they have been some of the local unsigned bands. I'm really enjoying
the music mix. Even heard them play some Marley.

Way to go Radio OKC.

A friend of mine brought this board to my attention so I thought
I would become a member and answer a few of the questions
posted.

We are "web only" and a not a part of some market test. This
is a format that I wanted to do a long time ago, but
GM's and OM's told me I was nuts and I never had a chance
to do other than in college at a popular Alt station on the
west coast while I was still in school. I could not see anyone
in the metro doing what I am on a city grade signal. It would
be awesome if we could - or even an HD2 but in today's radio
it's not going to happen - and I'm cool with that. The station
has only been up since 6/1 and right now I'm focused on building
our brand - and in time my business. There are no plans to take
Radio OKC to the "airwaves". So far we have gotten pretty positive
feedback on our facebook fan page.

I appreciate the positive feedback that I've seen in this forum.
I am very fortunate to have a chance to do this project. It has
taken over a year to go from concept to a stream. I'm having
fun doing radio again. I'm a happy guy!

Great Job. I've been keeping you on at work. I heard you play
Secret Agent Man from Agent Orange this morning. No way
would anyone let this on the air in OKC.

Well Done.

Well, with today's new internet paradigm, iPhones etc., I think you're less-likely to tank like pulsemusic.com, for instance; but stay smart and be like the pulsemusic guy did: keep your day job! ;D I think you're a little too niche to make a significant breakthrough; I would focus a little harder on the stuff the non-college listener might know (and that wouldn't necessarily mean just Top 10 crossover hits), and save the obscure stuff for once-an-hour flavor.

I pay. It's part of the deal. I'm not sure that a happy medium has been
found yet with CRB. Hopefully things will settle here in the next few weeks.

If everyone played fair than everyone could be a winner(pay Soundexchange,
ASCAP, BMI, SESAC and SOCAN) but it's kinda like auto insurance - those of us
who pay end up paying for others that don't play by the rules.

I know for a fact that streamers that are not paying are subject to alot
of grief soon, because once the dust has settled on the CRB decision
the party will be over for illegal streamers.

Have a good week !!
