New format of K-99 Biloxi

There appears to be some technical trouble with K-99 at the moment. It's barely audible, but if you turn up your radio, you'll hear their new format: all Biloxi Clear Channel stations at once! :D

That's right, if you're sick of missing Coast to Coast AM while you check out the jams on The Beat, but also want the chickeny flavor of John Mayer on Magic 93.7, now you can have them all — at the same time!

Needless to say this threw me for a major loop when I did a band scan a little while ago. Keep in mind I'm in Foley, Alabama so K-99 is really weak here, so it totally didn't dawn on me what it was until I went on down the dial and found the same song I was hearing on Magic (who segued into a K-99 ad, strangely enough). It was mixed with Coast to Coast AM, which isn't on FM anywhere else but there. Sure enough when I checked their stream, it's the same mish-mash of three different stations. Clever, Clear Channel! Now everyone can just listen to this one station and pick out what they wanna hear. The ratings will be ginormous! ;D

Well everything on FM is okay Magic 93.7, 92.5 The beat, K99, NEWS 104.9 is all okay. But I should think they should flip the formats around like put talk on 92.5 FM, CHR on 93.7, AC on 104.9, either keep country or flip to Hip-pop on 99.1 FM.

Looks like it got fixed when the morning people came in around 5 or 6. Not exactly making CC look good there, to have a powerhouse country station basically "off the air" for much of a weekend.

Nothing shocking here. CC doing what they do best in small markets, only sell the product the machine produces and not take care of the machine itself.

Radio is a business where money has to be invested in the product in order to see returns, CC and their banker friends at Bain don't get that, they should be forced to sell small market clusters off to owners that will actually care about doing the job right.

Once in a great era of radio, 93.7FM was home to a fantastic CHR/Top 40 outfit. CC and its predecessors destroyed all that back in 94 when a sleezy consultant showed up and said, "Let me tell 'ya how to make me some money..."

It's true CHR had hit the skids in the early 90s, but other heritage CHR stations kept their branding and succesfully tranistioned to CHR/Hot AC hybirds. What they did to 93.7 was pathetic.

Of course with today's CHR being fragmented so much, it depends on which sub-genre a re-formated 93.7 would be to get my vote. Anyways I'd rather see them sell to a committed owner who returns the imaging and brand 93.7 once had with a Hot AC/Viratey Hits format.

I can't imagine that CC wants out of Biloxi. They traded a 100kw station (WHWY) for the small 92.5 signal and they moved 104.9 from Mobile to Biloxi. Two big downgrades on paper at least. That's gotta mean they are making money in the Mississippi Gulf Coast market.
