NEW FORMAT SENSATION :

People want to be involved - this is new generation doesn't want to be lectured to - they want to be part of it--- Hence, the popularity of Reality TV.

NEW FORMAT HEADED TO YOUR RADIO SOON>>

DEBATE RADIO! Have u ever wanted to say to a Talk Show Radio Host - YOU'RE WRONG ABOUT THIS, but you knew you would never get through to him because the screeners would recognize that you're a challenge & would knock the host off his mantle. NOW YOU'RE IN THE GAME!

Two hosts battle out the issues live on air while referring to input from online listeners that text in their opinions, comments, criticisms onto a forum that everyone can see. Once or twice a week, an insightful listener (as chosen by each respective host) is invited to participate in the debate by actually coming into the studio & being part of the debate.

LIVE debates, with REAL unfettered, listener input.

I firmly believe that DEBATE RADIO would literally blow away all the other radio talk shows in the ratings. :)

Didn't talk shows used to do this with callers, before the standard format became shout over them and mostly put on people who kissed up to the host?

Jimmy,

I agree! I would put Hannity and Limbaugh on the top of that list though I have heard Colmes do it too.

It doesn't matter whether we're talking about conservatives or progressives, they're all doing it, with only a few notable exceptions, like Medved.

It makes you wonder why would anyone in his or her right mind would call any self centered, egotistical, arrogant, loud mouth.

Josh:

Great idea...but it's actually out of the late 1970's....

Newstalk WAVI in Dayton, Ohio instituted a separate phone number as a "challenge" line. When someone wanted to challenge a newsmaker or caller, they called the "challenge" line, and would be put on the air.

At the time, WAVI also did something they called "instant access news" and would broadcast live from a newsmaker's office or appearance. You should have seen the looks on a couple of these local politicos eyes when the talk host on the remote end said, "Let's take a call on the challenge line...Hello, you're on the air with (politician.)"...

WOW!!! That is the way talk radio should be. It's terrible but I believe this format would trump all the other talkers.

Problem is, the large radio and multi-national corporations want propaganda radio to continue as is in order to manipulate the masses. I believe it would have to start with a local small town radio station owner though its influence woud be insignificant...

People need to wake-up and realize what they are currently hearing is not about entertainment but it's manipulating their entire belief system. DEBATE RADIO is the answer..

Whatever happened to the station you spoke of? josh :)

WAVI eventually changed its call letters to WDAO(They also at one time had an FM frequency-107.7 WDAO-that was an Urban-formatted station. It is now home of Hot AC WMMX Mix 107.7). The "AVI" in the calls stood for "Aviation", since Dayton was home to the birth of AVIation. It is still in operation today. Here's the Wikipedia entry on WAVI/WDAO:
