NEW FORMAT TO KIFM??

So in regards to the new name, why does Dave Koz still refer to the station by its former name during his evening show, unless the station just uses a pre-recorded soundbyte (lack of a better term) from Koz?

He's voicetracked.

Well that just STINKS! KIFM was a very convenient way to get smooth jazz, as much as all the "Sade" and "Sade-like" vocal records they played would annoy (I'm a fan of REAL Smooth Jazz - David Sanborn, The Ruippingtons, etc.). And then when they went to the whole "1 instrumental record every half hour" or whatever it was, I knew things weren't going to get better. Sad to see it's pretty much gone now. I was surprised when moving to SD in 2006 that there even was a smooth jazz station (although, it does fit with the atmosphere here). Our Smooth Jazz station in Boston went out in the mid-90s.

I too am sad to see Smooth gone. :( But KIFM was one of the only Smooth Jazz stations hanging around. I recently came home for spring break, and noticed that it was changed to smoothfm, and was like what? :( :( I miss the smooth jazz, but at least they totally didn't flip formats, although smooth AC isn't smooth jazz, but still. :( I'm just glad that KIFM/smooth jazz lasted as long as it had, especially when all the smooth jazz stations are going.
Amber.

There's an elevator in a downtown highrise that still plays smooth jazz, but even that's had it's ups and downs.
